Phased Speed Run

New here to the site!  I have been working on this TT-02R kit since July 2024.  It was my first rc since I was a young teen.  So it's safe to say, I'm a noob. (48 now, lol)

I began this project just to see if it would be my type of hobby.  And well... Just look at it now.  The only stock parts are the lower suspension arms.  (I think...). I got this idea in my head in August last year to set a long term goal for 100mph.  I'm not there yet.  Along the way I had to try anything and everything available for this entry level TC.  I now have an RCAidong carbon fiber chassis kit, Tamiya adjustable upper arms, Yeah Racing aluminum conversion kit, Tamiya oil diffs, running Hobbywing electrics, and a bunch of other stuff.  I learned real quick through the Tamiya community on Reddit to avoid the aluminum suspension arms, so I went with the Tamiya plastic adjustable ones and run the stock lower arms.  I'm about to swap theotor and ESC out for a Castle Mamba X SCT ESC and 1410 3800kv motor.

This car is geared mildly aggressive.  I ran into a bottle neck using Tamiya's mod6 gears.  I have run it on the road, but not with the speed gearing.  I've been waiting for weather/roads to clear up.

I have however used the OTA Bluetooth programming module for the Hobbywing stuff to measure its "speed" on a test bench.  Not to gauge how fast it will be on the road, but more to see how the car reacts with different gearing and stuff.  So please don't come at me saying it's pointless to do test bench runs.  My top speed with no load on the motor/driveline and no friction from the road is 102mph.  I know it won't be anywhere near that fast on the road.  But when I do get to do a baseline run with the GPS, I'll be able to see the baseline speeds I can average with different gearing.  I'm going to start slow and cautiously build up to the higher gearing.

I have got some new 64p gearing to try and see if I can best my bench runs.  But I'm not getting any hopes up for road tests.  I need to dial in the chassis and see how it goes first.  I'll be getting a Delta Plastics speed run body and I'm going to fashion some kind of underbody air dams to keep air from lifting the car off the ground for flips!!! Lol

I'll add to this post as I get more info.  But feel free to ask any of questions. And any advice is more than welcome!  I've got a long road ahead of me and I'll take any advice form more experienced people.  I am excited but I know I need to learn from all you who've been down this road before!  I'll include the images of the failed drive line when I first jumped to 3s.  I was the cause of it.  Not knowing better I punched full throttle and didn't ease into it.

I'm going to work on adding a parts list soon.  There's over $2000 worth in this project already.  So it will take some time adding in all the parts and stuff
