Scratch Built Foamboard Twin 50mm Airliner
Description
After crashing one of my scratch built 50mm jets Idecided I would attempt something new.
Putting into consideration i dont have any twin engine planes i thought making a airliner would be a fun plane to start.
Using a mixture of foamboard and 3d printing im able to parts such as landing gear, cockpits, wheels and all of the above and which all of those are featured on this plane.
As of posting this I am still awaiting for the second 50mm EDF to arrive.
A few concerns I have of this design is 1 being how close the engines come to the ground. there is only about a 10mm gap between the tip of the gear and the engine naccel.
Another is the shear amout of drag created by the gear, since I opted out of retractable gear the beefy landing gear is for sure going to add loads of drag.
Hopefully, the drag wont be an issue because there is a exessive thrust to weight ratio.
The all up RTF weight is around 1100-1200grams and these 2 engines have a peak thrust of 1900grams combined.
If you saw, the nose gear is not steerable, however I do plan to use differential thrust for ground steering IF the rudder can't correct it when taking off.
