Description

This is a Flex Innovations Cap 232 with an air activated wing tip smoke mod!

The idea behind this build is to use a 10 ohm 1/4w 5% resistor and apply 12 volts to ignite the smoke effect.

I used some 22 gauge nichrome wire to extend the length of the resistors so I could bend them and insert them in the end of the smoke effect.

Smoke effects usually come with a ring pull style igniter which can easily be cut and pulled out.

I used a carbon rod, took a dremel to the end of it, then used it to cut through the wing foam.

Next I ran some 22 gauge wire through the rod and pulled the rod back out leaving the wire in the wing.

On one end is an xt30 connector and the other 2 small alligator clips.

An RC Switch is used which plugs into an open receiver channel.

I used a small 650mah 3s lipo charged to about 12.5 volts and plugged into the switch IN port.

I made a Y connector which then goes to the wing wires.

I used Tinkercad to create some custom smoke mounts to replace the stock SFG and then used some 5 min Epoxy to glue the alligator clips in place.

With these smoke effects I get about 90 seconds of smoke.
