About the Big Rock V4
Clipless Body
Gone are the days of body clips sticking out and taking away from the scale detail that RC monster trucks can have. Arrma equipped this vehicle with a hidden, clipless body system. Simply press the tabs at the front and rear of the truck and lift up. Large side guards are close-fitting to the body to help ensure dirt and rocks keep out of the chassis.
Chassis & Suspension
The front and rear independent suspension combined with oil-filled, coil-over shocks soak up rough terrain. Adjustable turnbuckles allow you to fine-tune the suspension for your driving style. For the drivetrain, the Big Rock is equipped with metal gear differentials, front, center, and rear, and durable splined driveshafts. The bearing-supported center driveshaft ensures smooth power transfer from the motor to the front and rear differentials.

The ESC in the 223S Arrma vehicles sucks. They are not programmable. The low voltage cut off is either set to high or the esc is garbage. You will only get half the run time out of this truck compared to what you would get with literally any other 3s capable esc. Some people say that they get extended run time with high end batteries. (Not verified) I’ve been in the hobby for over a decade. I own multiple Arrma rigs and love them. The truck itself is superb. If you have to immediately replace the esc or spend over $100 for a single new battery on the off chance it might work better you should just buy a different vehicle.
The truck is very tough. I put in a hobbywing 8bl150 with a 4274 motor and cartwheeled off a jump downhill and nothing broke!!
The Big Rock itself is 5 stars truck is super fun, durable, fast, easy to maintain and do maintenance, the body pictures don’t due it justice super cool looking. My truck came with a center diff that had no fluid in it because the screws installed were to long. I fixed that myself easy pezzy for someone who has been in the hobby for 31 years. However if you’re going to buy this truck be ready to install a different ESC motor combo and controller/receiver. I bought this truck knowing that the 223S esc in this truck was problematic. The ESC on this truck on 3s will kick LVC at 3.64 volt/cell if u drive it very conservatively. If you like wheelies, jumps or speed runs I’ve had this ESC kick LVC at 3.91 volts/cell running a 6400 MAH 100C battery that was 3 weeeks old. If you really like this truck Buy a Hobbywing QuicRun 10BL120 G2 Sensorless Brushless ESC/3660SL Motor Combo (3150kV) and install it right out of the box. The stock servo is fine does the job. This Truck should be sold as a Roller it would get 5 star reviews every time. SPECTRUM SUCKS the 223s 2in1 80 amp ESCs are TRASH theses systems were in tyco and RadioShack cars in the 90s they sucked then. I refused to deal with Horizon hobbies AWFUL customer support, you want real customer support buy a TRAXXAS.
Great mid-size truck. Had low voltage issues and overheating but amain hobbies is helping me with that issue. Customer service guy named Todd was a great help. Horizon hobby wanted to give me the run around about the esc issues but amain hobbies knows how to keep customers and I do appreciate them. Thanks , crazycajunrcfun (youtube)
Reviewers generally praise the Big Rock 4X4 V4 223S as a durable, fast, fun monster truck that is easy to maintain and looks good in person. The most recurring problem is the included 223S ESC, which several owners say is not programmable and triggers low-voltage cutoff early, shortening run time, particularly under aggressive driving. One reviewer reported an empty center differential caused by overlong screws, fixed by the owner. Ratings range from 1 to 5, and the one-star review is more critical of the ESC than the truck overall. Owners suggest upgrading the ESC, motor, or receiver combo, and one reviewer reported overheating alongside the low-voltage issues. Reviews are few, so the picture is limited.
