About the Quake Grom 4x4 Monster Truck

Electronics & Power System

The Quake Grom comes fully loaded with quality electronics that give beginners the punch they want with reliability they can trust. A powerful brushed 380-size motor drives the truck with responsive power, while the water-resistant 25A ESC and receiver combo keeps the system protected. The included Spektrum 2.4GHz SLT2 radio delivers smooth control, with throttle limits for beginner-friendly driving. Completing the setup, a metal-geared water-resistant servo ensures precise steering and long-term durability.

Suspension & Drivetrain

This monster truck is built to tackle jumps, bumps, and rough terrain with ease. The independent suspension features oil-filled coil-over shocks for consistent performance and smooth landings. An enclosed metal gear drivetrain transfers power to all four wheels, giving the Quake Grom strong 4WD traction. Reinforced chassis construction and impact-absorbing bumpers help the truck survive hard hits and keep rolling no matter where you drive.

Clipless System & High-Traction Tires

The Quake Grom stands out with a bold monster truck body and a clipless mounting system that makes battery changes and maintenance hassle-free. Oversized dBoots Chevron MT tires and color-coordinated wheels deliver traction and a true monster truck stance, while molded body details give the truck a rugged, aggressive look. The quick-release body design means no more lost pins or tricky installs—just snap on and go bash. This makes it perfect for drivers who want maximum playtime and minimum downtime.

If I knew then what I know nowVerified owneron Arrma Quake Grom 4x4 1/16 RTR Brushed Monster Truck (Green)

Honest review, so I may get some hate here from the Arrma gang. I wanted to love this truck. As it comes from the factory, I just like it. To my utter dismay, straight out of the box I noticed 2 of 4 shocks were visibly wet and leaking oil noticeably from the base. I know Arrma has had issues with this for years, but thought they would have figured it out by now. Rear shock oil is far too light from the factory, even with a ton of preload added. I swapped it out for Losi 80 weight and with 2 large spacers on each shock, it feels just about right where I want it now. When filling the shocks, I added shock grease to the o-rings, but no luck - they still leak literally right before your eyes. Over night, the bottom of the shocks are wet again. The front shocks are tuned fine out of the box for me, minus the leaks. I’m going to attempt some shimming of the o-rings and see if I can get them to stop. Transmitter is missing the color-coded “Quake” decal as seen in all the unboxing videos, AMain’s included. It’s just a plain SLT2 with no distinguishing features. I contacted AMain support and they told me to reach out to Horizon directly since the decal is not offered separately. Still haven’t heard back from Horizon. The servo saver is sloppy and loose, even tightened down all the way. This, along with the slop in the linkage, leads to wandering and darty steering. It won’t hold a steering trim either, most likely due to the slop in the steering linkage, which is very frustrating. I find myself constantly adjusting the trim back and forth and back again. Also of note, the hex hardware is very low quality. A few of the 2mm were so bad I thought they were 2.5, but no, just very poor tolerances. Make sure you use a nice set of hexes to compensate or you’ll round the heads right out. I still want to love this truck. My favorite models have been monster trucks since I was a kid, and I love running minis inside when I can’t get out with the bigger toys. I’m going to try to fix the shocks, but I’ll probably just have to deal with the sloppy steering. Hope to hear back from Horizon about the decal, as I have a pile of these transmitters now and the decal was a nice touch to be able to tell them apart at a quick glance. The Quake Grom will be fine for a casual user or a child, but these issues, in totality, are unacceptable to someone with higher standards in a hobby with rapidly growing price tags. If I had known what I know now, I would NOT have made this purchase. At least not until they come out with a v1.2 to address these issues. Sorry if this isn’t what you wanted to hear, but I felt I had to share this experience with anyone else thinking about picking one of these up.

Derek Trombleyon Arrma Quake Grom 4x4 1/16 RTR Brushed Monster Truck (Green)

Let me start with WOW in a great way. I've owned a lot of mini's and micros. The Grom line from Arrma is hands down the toughest and best I've dealt with in my personal experience. I've ran this thing into curbs, sent it at the skate park, did some street bashing with it as well as do a lot of crashing with the Quake. I love the simple body clip system to release it and I can't say anything negative about it which is hard. I think the brushed system for the Quake and Gorgon 4x4 Grom is the perfect blend of speed and torque for a smaller area to run. Using it at the skate park it has enough torque to get up to speed quick and the top end feels manageable with the understanding that it's a monster truck meant to do stunts. The truck has a good attitude when jumping through the air with stay relatively level, and if you aren't being able to correct itself with a touch of the brakes or throttle. Arrma really knocked it out of the park with this one.

This little truck really impressed me with it's responsiveness and pulling power, strong braking, and durability. I didn't expect this at all from a small scale vehicle. I should have gotten one sooner.

What reviewers say

Reviewers broadly praise the Quake Grom 4x4's performance, including pulling power, braking, responsiveness and durability, and find it fun for both adults and younger users. One reviewer reported that two of four shocks leaked oil straight out of the box and that rear shock oil felt too light; they replaced it with heavier oil and spacers, and grease on the o-rings did not stop the leaks. Another reviewer described it as tough through curb, skate park and crash use. Most reviews are short and generic, and only one addresses shock quality in depth, so the leaking issue rests on a single account. Several reviews are unverified, and one mentions customer service rather than the truck itself.

  • + Responsive handling and strong braking
  • + Pulling power and torque for its size
  • + Durable through crashes and rough use
  • + Fun for children and adults
  • − Shocks may leak oil out of the box
  • − Rear shock oil reported as too light from the factory
