After a total of 15 minutes of driving it had a low voltage shutoff with a fresh battery. Then a loss of signal runaway that caused the car to go full speed and ultimately wrecking and snapping an a arm and axle pin. Apparently the new 2 in 1 esc and transmitter has this issue. Arrma has also done nothing but drag their feet and walk around fixing the issue. They seem to respond when they feel like it. Update the original review was 1 star but I have changed it to 5 stars based solely on Amain hobbies customer service. Almost immediately after I wrote the review they reached out and did everything possible to make it whole and make it right. Jeremiah was insanely helpful and on top of things this is the epitome of what customer service is and they are the absolute example of what a company should be and how a company should ran when it comes to customer service I can't say enough good things about them. Amain Hobbies all the way!!!! P.S. Arrma still hasn't attempted to make it right. Good grief. Either way Amain Hobbies now has a customer for life thanks again guys!!!
5 star on truck just said that the conecter from the motor snaped in half but amain is replacing the motor and im happy with the results i will order more from amain never any issues with them or customer service
As much as i wanted to love it, it overheated in 80degree weather halfway through one 3s pack. Then when i switch batts, it broke a rear cv axle and the driveline locked up. I had to send it back. This was on the first run. It also had this weird thing where it would drive forward without me pulling the trigger. I dont know if mine was just a lemon or not. Im not buying another one to find out.
Love this rig!!!!! The fun factor is unlimited, and surprises me
Best dog toy ever! I mean if you want to wear out the dog and have a lot of fun in the process, this car and some open space is the way to go. It is simply insane on 3S, we run it at the bike jumps in the woods and it just flies. Also amazing is how resistant the car is to rollovers. Very stable. I did break a front shock slamming into a rock, I think they're a weak point. But that was after relentless abuse, multiple crashes, hucking off cliffs to flat and similar nonsense. No regrets!
Reviewers are generally enthusiastic about the Vorteks 223S Purple's speed, stability and fun factor, particularly on 3S. Opinions diverge sharply on reliability. One reviewer reports a loss-of-signal runaway after about 15 minutes, attributed to the 2-in-1 ESC and transmitter, and says Arrma was slow to respond; this reviewer later raised their rating after Amain Hobbies customer service resolved the issue. Another reports overheating in warm weather and a broken rear CV axle on the first run, plus unexpected forward drive, and returned the unit. Hardware failures reported include a motor connector snapping, which Amain replaced, and a front shock breaking after heavy crashing. Several reviewers praise Amain Hobbies' support. Overall, reliability and the ESC/transmitter system are the main recurring concerns.
- + Fast and fun to drive
- + Stable, resists rollovers
- + Strong performance on 3S
- + Responsive Amain Hobbies customer service
- − Reported loss-of-signal runaway
- − Overheating and driveline failure reported
- − Hardware breakage (connector, axle, shock)
- − Slow manufacturer response to issues
