I use this on my AX10, controlled by an XL-5 waterproof ESC and it makes for a great pair. I had to put the capacitors on it that came with my ESC, but that is a pretty quick task. This is a great motor and for the money, you simply can't beat it. With the stock 87-tooth Axial spur and 14-tooth pinion, I have yet to find a circumstance where I wished I had a different motor or gearing setup. Super slow creep when I need it and plenty of wheel speed for hopping when I need that. Axial is giving people more than their money's worth with this motor.
Awesome motor. Have a ax10 that came with a 27t. Motor died so I bought this and it made the car way more drivable under load. Very pleased will be buying another one for my other crawler build
Pretty happy with this motor. Its durable and cheap. Great for crawling. I still need to play around with gearing. So far its fine on my SCX10 with heavy weighted wheels.
Motor has a ton of torque. If your looking for something for rock crawling id recommend this motor with its torque and low speed.
This is not a review, only question. Can i fit pinion with 3.17mm bore ?
Reviewers consistently rate the Axial AM55 540 55T crawler motor highly, describing it as strong on torque at low speed and suited to rock crawling. Owners report it works well with an XL-5 ESC and the stock 87-tooth spur and 14-tooth pinion, and one reviewer says it improved drivability under load after a previous motor failed. Durability and value for money are also praised. One reviewer notes the ESC's capacitors had to be fitted to the motor, which is described as a quick task. One reviewer asked a question about pinion bore size, which was not answered. Only five reviews exist, all rated 5/5, so the sample is small and lacks criticism.
