Authentic Styling & Scale Details
This officially licensed machine features a beautifully recreated 1987 Toyota SR5 Xtra Cab body packed with molded scale details. The clipless mounting system keeps the exterior clean while allowing quick access to the chassis. Scale-molded headlights, taillights, grille, hood latches, and a molded composite exocage elevate realism, while the bobbed and dovetailed bed improves clearance without sacrificing the classic SR5 look. Completing the authentic Trail-Gear theme are licensed fabricated-style portal axle housings, Creeper Lock beadlock wheels, and officially licensed Interco Super Swamper tires that look as good as they perform.
Proven Performance
Built on the trusted SCX10 III steel C-channel chassis, the SR5 delivers the rigidity and precision needed for technical crawling. The LCXU transmission includes a dig function for tight turning and advanced maneuverability, while the AR45P portal axles increase ground clearance and reduce torque twist. Aluminum adjustable coilover shocks provide tunable suspension performance, and high-clearance bumpers improve approach and departure angles on steep terrain. Trail-Gear rock sliders with a boat-side profile help the truck glide over obstacles, ensuring the SCX10 III Toyota SR5 is as capable as it is authentic.

This truck is a game changer for rtr I definitely did not use stock electronics I never do. But first initial run I did and the truck performance is outstanding. Tires are great as well. Price is a little steep though as it should come rtr with a brushless system at that price. Its pretty stripped down. Dig is a great rtr feature so it kinda helps spend that crazy money..but still unjustified price point. Would I recommend buying it... yes if you dont care about the price. If you do..well just get the coyote . Its pretty close in comparison and much cheaper. Cage..dig..and lights definitely do not make this truck worth the price. Now if it had a 2 speed trans and all that..well thats a tad better. But in the end the stock electronics are not worth the price. Great truck though. Love it.
This is probably one of my favorite scale 1/10 trucks I have ever had. With few minor upgrades it does fairly well. This is not a crawler, it's very, very capable 4WD truck. Only complaint is the servo for DIG unit is cheap and will burn out. But I love this truck and I get lot compliments on how good it looks. Put some Class 1 (4.19") tires on this and it looks awesome. Make sure and get some retro wheels for it and this thing looks amazing. Well done Axial!
Very clean build. Upon first trial indoors, I notice the tire wedges upon making a full turn. Also, the dig function didn't disengage. To unlock the dig function, I need to reverse slightly. The not-so-fun part is that the tire is rubbing against the body shell at full rebound. I dont think this should happen on a stock build. Just my 2cent. But overall still a beauty!
Very please with my purchase showed up in a timely manner. Was exactly as advertised great product
Great looking truck. So far it been good. Add some brass and help. But time will tell
Six verified owners rate the Axial SCX10 III 1987 Toyota SR5 (Tan) RTR at 4 to 5 out of 5, with most praising its looks, capability and performance. Reviewers say it is a very capable 4WD truck rather than a pure crawler, and several note it runs well with minor upgrades or aftermarket tires and wheels. Criticism centres on price relative to the stripped-down RTR package, which reviewers say lacks a brushless system and a two-speed transmission; one reviewer suggests a cheaper alternative. The DIG unit servo is reported as fragile and prone to burning out. One reviewer reports tire wedging on a full turn, the DIG function not disengaging without reversing, and tire rubbing the body at full rebound. Two reviews are brief praise for shipping and service rather than the truck itself.
- + Strong performance and capability
- + Looks well, attracts compliments
- + Good tires
- + DIG feature adds value
- − Price high for stripped-down RTR
- − Cheap DIG servo prone to failure
- − Tire wedging and body rubbing reported
- − DIG does not always disengage
