About this part

Updated and Fully Loaded Axial Capra 1.9 Crawler

The Axial UTB10 Capra 1.9 4WS Unlimited Trail Buggy 1/10 RTR 4WD Rock Crawler takes extreme trail buggies to the next level! With updates to the transmission, 4-wheel steering, 4-link suspension, portal axles, and more,it is designed to give you a platform ready for any terrain you can throw its way.

About the UTB10 Capra 1.9

Transmission

This updated Capra has an improved final drive ratio of 45.37:1 (6.31 internal) compared to 31.4:1 (4.37 internal). This is 45% lower than the previous model, vastly improving the climbing ability and power of this rig. The Capra is ready for any trail, hill, or obstacle.

4-Wheel Steering

Trail buggies with 2-wheel steering (2WS) don't stand a chance against the 4-wheel steering (4WS) of the Capra. Being able to steer with the front and rear axles gives you an enormous advantage. Using the third channel button of the included Spektrum DX3 transmitter, you can steer the rear axle full left, straight, and full right to position the tires for easy and fast maneuverability.

Suspension & Electronics

Axial has fine-tuned the Capra suspension geometry with a smooth, flexible, and durable design to achieve the best crawling capabilities. The shock bodies are threaded and anodized for a smooth, long-lasting finish. Moving this truck is an Axial 35-turn brushed motor paired to a Spektrum brushed ESC to deliver an even balance of speed and power.

Axial UTB10 Capra V2 review for Amain Hobbies 28Mar2026 Capra - How, Why, and What? How: I bought the Capra from my preferred RC vendor – Amain Hobbies. On the plus side, it’s the V2 model with well-considered improvements from Axial. On the minus side, it’s only available in Ready-To-Run form. You can’t buy an assemble-it-yourself kit. Why: I prefer kits because I enjoy the assembly process and it helps me understand the design and construction of a vehicle. Besides that, I can choose the motor, ESC, transmitter/receiver, servos, tires/wheels, etc. instead of paying for items built to a price point that don’t best meet my needs. That being said, I had a wish list of upgrade parts in hand before purchase but figured I should at least run it stock to see what I really need or upgrade what breaks. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite RTR because the Spektrum DX3 transmitter was defective. Amain Hobbies displayed excellent customer support and quickly dispatched a replacement that worked. 5 Gold Stars for Amain support! What – I have scale trucks and trail trucks, but what I really enjoy is challenging obstacles. So figured it was time for a rock crawler. To be fair, Axial calls the Capra an “Unlimited Trail Buggy”, which well-defines its design intention and performance capability. It’s not a crawler but can built into a decent crawler, certainly enough for my modest skills. Admittedly, I like the look of it. After a few runs on progressively more challenging terrain, I broke the Spektrum S683 front steering servo. Just a little bind and I didn’t push it. So my wish list went in the shopping cart and I’ll be upgrading soon. Looks like get to build my rig after all :)

Very capable right out of the box. The 4ws along with the other updates on this new version have really set the bar high in my opinion. I definitely am pleased with my Capra.

Fun right out of the box. After some wheels and some front end weight, it'll good to go.

Absolutely incredible buggy. Well supported with upgrades and the PL MT tires are working out pretty good in my crawling rock environment. A few more channels to add DIG, winch, on/off lights would have been nice. Overall super worth the 3 month wait and they sold out immediately. I think the weakest point are the servos, only lasted a few crawls in the front and 5 in the rear, even after setting end points super conservatively. Just part of the hobby I guess. Pre order one pronto using July coupons!

What reviewers say

Eight verified owners rate the Axial UTB10 Capra 1.9 4WS highly, averaging near 5 out of 5. Reviewers consistently describe it as capable and fun straight out of the box, with the 4WS and updated V2 features praised. Several note it is a good platform for beginners that can also be upgraded for advanced crawling. One reviewer, who prefers kits, expressed a preference for building it themselves but noted it is only available ready-to-run. A recurring complaint is that the servos wore out quickly under crawling use, even with conservative end points. Some reviewers also wished for additional radio channels, such as for a winch or lights, and one would like a brushless motor. Some reviewers suggest adding front-end weight or new wheels for better performance.

  • + Capable and fun out of the box
  • + 4WS and V2 updates praised
  • + Good platform for beginners and upgrades
  • + Looks good and feels well made
  • − Servos wore out quickly
  • − Only ready-to-run, no kit option
  • − Limited radio channels for extras
  • − Brushed motor preferred upgrade to brushless
