Bat-Safe XL LiPo Charging Case (Silver)
About this part
The Bat-Safe LiPo Charging Case is a simple and effective solution for charging and storing LiPo batteries. If you have an R/C model, chances are you own at least one lithium battery. Lithium batteries are an integral component to surface and air models. In rare instances, lithium batteries can become hazardous and catch fire - destroying your personal items, your home and maybe even the life of you or a loved one.
Thats why Bat-Safe was developed. Bat-Safe is an insulated and vented, steel, double wall steel box that contains the fire and intense heat in the event of a battery fire. The smoke and soot is filtered through a built in flame smothering filtration system to protect the area from odor and a majority of the smoke damage that can occur from a battery fire. Plus, Bat-Safe is light weight, easy to use and most importantly, inexpensive! The Bat-Safe is cheap insurance for anyone who uses lithium batteries of any size.
Other features include the ability to charge and store up to four 6S 5000mAh (444Wh) LiPo batteries safely, a charger stand to help keep your charging station organized and tidy, a handle for easy transportation, a fire proof lid seal, a wire through port that provides an access point for charging wires. All of these features combined make Bat-Safe the most advanced battery charging accessory that creates a safer charging environment than anything else currently available.

Solid box, came with a couple dents but does not affect its functionality. Box was bigger than I expected. Just wish it would have came with the extended balancing leads especially for the price. Overall I am happy with the product.
As the other review said, mine came dented and its really hard to get the cables through the opening, so if you have arthritis it would be a pain getting the cables through. I have no doubt that it would do what it is supposed to do, but for the price it should have better craftsmanship. Also, this thing is huge! outside it measures 18x12x9 (46x31x23cm) and I have no idea how to mount the charge stand and it will likely scratch your charger since the foam is loose. Overall its decent box but the price is a bit too much, unless you have a coupon or store credit.
Well built. Best unit I could find for storing and charging batteries. I hope I never have to see it contain a fire.
My Bat-Safe case arrived in good condition. It’s my second one. Even if it was slightly dented, I wouldn’t have cared. What’s most important is that it serves its purpose well. I cannot say how it performs during a LiPo fire since I, luckily, have not had one yet. But it feels like it would hold strong. Yes, the sheet metal is thin on the outside, but there’s more protection on the inside. The only issue that keeps it from 5 stars is it looks very dull. I wish they’d continue using the old white design with the bats. And the slot for the wires is EXTREMELY tight. But I guess it needs to be to contain the fire. So all in all, I’m happy with it so far.
I went online to view videos of several Lipo battery failures. Consequently, I looked for a high quality storage system to keep my Lipo’s. Bat-Safe has 2 units: 1) stores packs totaling 10,000 mah 2) this unit to store up to 20,000 mah I have not had this unit personally tested by a battery failure, but from what I have viewed online, this unit appears to be one of the safest options for modelers. To date I have purchased two of these units, and one of the smaller original Bat-Safe units.
Reviewers generally rate the Bat-Safe XL LiPo Charging Case positively, with ratings mostly 4 or 5 out of 5, and most say it serves its storage and containment purpose. Recurring complaints include dents on arrival, thin sheet metal, and a cable slot that is very tight, with one reviewer noting a hinge whose rivets popped out. Several reviewers say the construction does not match the price, and one notes the case is large and lacks extended balancing leads. Reviewers say they have not tested its fire containment in practice, so that claim rests on expectation and online footage. One reviewer reports a rivet and hinge failure, the lowest rating in the set. Reviews are not about a different variant.
