Very good stuff, I've painted 5 bodies with it now. I was using Bob Dively's masking for the last few years. The bittydesign mask is winning me over very quickly, it takes only 3 coats (brushed on) to mask a shell apposed to 5 with Dively's. I have found that designs cut in the bittydesign mask likes to peel out better than divelys, and the pink coloration of the bittydesign mask makes it a bit easier to see blade lines in. The only thing negative I can think of is that the large jug isn't stock.
Works pretty good. Just use 2 or 3 coats. 2 coats is more difficult to work with.
I was hesitant to spend the money to switch from old school taping to liquid mask but it goes a long way and makes designing and cutting your ideas so much easier. Make sure you have some small (1") foam brushes on hand.
Works great, I've been spraying it on with a 1.7mm HVLP spray gun. Goes on well, didn't need to thin it at all. Hit it with the hairdryer to speed up the drying between coats. I've just finished a bottle and managed to coat 7 bodies (1/10 trucks, buggies and and a 1/8 buggy body). Probably could play with the settings on the spray gun or thinning for a lighter spray but I'm not worried about trying to stretch it further. The smell other people mention doesn't bother me. Will go for the bigger bottle next time.
Compared to Bob Dively this stuff takes forever to dry. Sometimes even overnight is not enough! The pink colour makes is hard to tell when it’s dry. Once it is dry it works good but not worth the hassle. Several times as I’m cutting the film it pulled off due to not being completely dry. What makes it worse if the previous layer is not completely dry and apply another layer, It locks in the previous layer which will never dry. Had to completely remove liquid mask and reapply on several bodies and reapply. Never had to do this with Bob Dively.
Reviewers largely rate Bittydesign Liquid Mask highly, with most 5/5 ratings praising easy cutting, clean peel-off, and crisp lines compared with tape. Several note that 2 to 4 brushed coats are typically needed, and some recommend small foam brushes or spraying, which one reviewer used with an HVLP gun. The pink tint is praised by some for making blade lines easier to see but criticised by others for making it hard to judge dryness. The main recurring complaint is slow drying, sometimes taking overnight; one reviewer reported film lifting during cutting and layers failing to dry when applied over wet coats. Two lower ratings (3/5 and 2/5) cite drying time and thinness and recommend a competing product. One reviewer mentioned a smell and another noted the large jug is not stocked. Several reviews also praise customer service and shipping.
