About this part

This is the Castle Creations Phoenix Edge 100 32V 100-Amp ESC. The next evolution in speed controller technology has arrived With the debut of the Phoenix Edge series ESC's. The Edge series features a user programmable auxiliary wire capable of functions modelers have only dreamed of, until now. The white auxiliary wire can be used for helicopter governor gain input adjustments mid-flight, serve as an audible beacon after an “unexpected landing”, act as an RPM output for 3-axis gyros that support RPM sensors, be used as an ESC arming lock or as a receiver arming lock. Combined with the data logging capability the Edge series of controllers offer, users can enjoy unparalleled versatility.

The Phoenix Edge 100 is intended for use in 500 and 550 class helicopters, as well as .40 - .90 fixed wing aircraft. Additionally, this ESC is also compatible with 600 class helicopters when used with an external BEC or receiver pack. As always, the Edge series of controllers offer industry-leading software functions, data logging, and USB programming capability via Castle Link USB adapter.

Programmability
Fully programmable Castle feature set using Castle Link USB adapter and freely downloadable Castle Link Windows software. Castle Field Link Programming Card (sold separately) compatible for select functions.

Same Incredible Price

The Phoenix Edge controllers deliver all of this while retaining the same astonishing prices as their predecessors.

*NOTE: RC HOBBY APPLICATION RATING: 100 amps for the duration of a single 5,000 mAh battery pack with the ESC in contact with a 5 mph airflow of 25°C (77°F) or cooler air. Controller temperature must never exceed 100C (212F). Exceeding current or temperature ratings may damage components and may shorten the life of the ESC. Always verify system current draw at full-throttle. Decrease load or increase airflow to decrease the ESC’s operating temperature.

**NOTE: Peak indicates amperage sustainable for 0.5 seconds – long enough for most servos’ current draw transients. Your setup may vary. Always confirm servo current draw before the first flight of the model.

I bought this ESC for my old T-Rex 600ESP. It's easy to program and the BEC works great! For my application, I am using this ESC with 6S 5000mAh and 6S 4500mAh batteries.

Muy bueno lastima.que no soporte los servos Y solo funcione para el motor

Running this ESC in a Hirobo SDX electric conversion 8 cells with 600mm blades. Works very well and is only warm to touch after a hard 5 min flight. Using it in conjuction with a Castle Bec Pro and am happy with its performance over the last year. The internal data logging is also helpful.

This ESC has a feature I like very much. Using free software on a Windows PC and a cable connector at a fee, the ESC can be programmed to use a safety key or reverse thrust. The safety key installed on the plane prevents the ESC from delivering power to the motor unless the key is removed. The reverse thrust can be used in a boat where the motor rotation can be changed from clockwise to counterclockwise using a switch on the transmitter. I power 60 size electric motors in several 65" wingspan balsa kit built P51s using this ESC and I am very pleased with its performance.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally rate this 100-amp ESC highly, with four reviews averaging roughly 4.25 out of 5. Owners describe it as easy to program and performing well in electric helicopter, plane and boat applications, including with 6S and 8-cell packs. One reviewer notes it stays only warm after a hard five-minute flight and mentions helpful internal data logging. Another describes a safety-key and reverse-thrust feature available through free Windows software and an optional cable. The one lower rating (2/5, written in Spanish) says the unit does not support servos and only drives the motor, which is consistent with its role as a motor controller. Review volume is small.

  • + Easy to program
  • + Performs well across applications
  • + Runs cool under hard use
  • + Helpful internal data logging
  • − Does not support servos, only the motor
  • − Safety key and reverse thrust require extra software and cable
