About this part

This is a pack of two Crawler Innovations Lil' Nova 4.75" Dual Stage Crawler Tire Inserts. These inserts feature a comp cut inner foam, with a medium density outer foam. Crawler Innovations has brought a unique material and insert design to the crawler world that will dramatically improve the performance of your rig. The Lil' Nova design features a closed cell inner foam combined with a conventional over sized outer foam insert.

The "Comp Cut" inner insert has three grooves machined into the area where the outer and inner meet. The machined grooves allow for the outer foam to collapse into them resulting in a much more responsive tire.

The 4.75 Size is the recommended for tall 1.9 size tires and heavier trucks. The Inner Foam Width fits 1" wide bead lock wheels and the outer foam is Over-Sized on purpose to encase the closed cell inner, and to provide for weight support.

NOTE: Typically, you want to use a firmer foam in the rear than what you use in the front. This will help to prevent the truck from transferring weight to the rear, causing the front end to lift when climbing obstacles or steep grades. Additionally, the heavier the truck, the firmer insert you will want to use. Package includes two foams. Foams are available in soft (CWR-2034), medium (CWR-2035) and firm (CWR-2036) densities.

Awesome product Mount very well to Vanquish beadlock rims,Incision rims, or my ebay Injora rims!!! Works really well with the Pitbull Rock Beast XL 4.75 And my Duratrax Deep Woods 4.75 My favorite foams By far hands down. I will Say they are very difficult to Get Perfectly straight in the wheel, Especially if you are running the tuning ring. With persistence and A Great attention to detail, It just takes a little bit of time and you can get it perfectly!! Once they are mounted They are the best foams on the market for crawling.

Outer tuning rings are very difficult to deal with.

I used to run CI foams and thought they were good. After not crawling for several years I switched to some SL3D inserts a couple months ago when I started up again. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how great the SL3d inserts were, so I just setup a new set of wheels/tires and ordered CI foams (soft front and medium rear). There is no comparison, these foams are so firm the KM3 krawlers barely conform to rocks, the traction is so much less. I really don't have a use for these foams so I'll just eat the cost and get rid of them. All my crawlers going forward will be on SL3D inserts.

The 5 star rating is for AMain Hobbies customer service. I returned this item - since I had no use for it on my TRX-4 Assembly Kit.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally find these Crawler Innovations Lil Nova 4.75" foams mount well on several beadlock and aftermarket rims and pair well with popular 4.75" crawler tires. One reviewer praises them as a top choice for crawling once mounted. The recurring complaint is difficulty getting the foams centred straight in the wheel, especially when using a tuning ring, which requires patience. One reviewer found the foams too firm, with reduced traction compared with SL3D inserts, and switched to those. Another reviewer's high rating was for customer service on a return rather than the product itself. Reviews appear to concern the medium-outer variant.

  • + Mounts well on beadlock rims
  • + Works with popular 4.75" crawler tires
  • + Good traction once mounted
  • + Strong overall crawling performance
  • − Difficult to centre straight in the wheel
  • − Outer tuning rings hard to handle
  • − Firm foam with reduced traction for some users
