About this part

This is an optional DE Racing BumpSkid for the Kyosho MP9 TKI3 buggy. This product combines a superior front skid plate with a refined front bumper to create the ultimate in protection, performance, and styling. DE Racing has always said they believe a car’s chassis is not a wear item. The “BumpSkid” further reinforces that concept by providing high performance protection for the front of your expensive 1/8 scale buggy chassis.

NOTE: MP9 and TKI2 buggies use DER-308-K

Great product, helps save the front end of the car a lot from big jumps and slaps from taking of steep jumps or over jumping big jumps, I do not recommend the rear gaurd from DE but the front one is much better then the kyosho stock one which protects nothing but the front hinge pin mount

I've used this on 3 versions of Kyosho Infernos: the MP9 TKI4, MP10 TKI2, and MP10 TKI3. Fits each one perfectly and definitely protects the front end from landing the jumps. One area of improvement would be to improve the plastic. I end up needing to replace these after removing the front drive assembly from the chassis several times for routine maintenance, differential swaps, etc. When you first install this, the pan head screws stretch and thin the plastic between the pan of the screw and contour of the chassis. During initial installation, this is a good thing and ensures a perfect fit. However, the more times you remove and reassemble, the plastic around the screw holes continues to stretch and thin to the point when it thins so much, or completely breaks through, it no longer stays put in the chassis and has to be replaced. This happens long before the wear surface is actually fully worn out. If there is a way to strengthen the material around the screw mounts, it would make these last much, much longer. The same thing is true for the rear protector.

in short good product! but for its Price? and Wear? its ok? they wear Quick due to the Soft Material made from? so we started making ours from "ABS" lasting bout 40 to50times longer. still? in a "Pinch" for a race a "Race Day"! its a good option if you like to have a little extra on the Front, but Recommend a "Piece" of ABS plastic and its easy to Mold/Bend. same for rear, the Materials are Much too Soft? still Great Option!but had to give a 2 star? for the "price" to value for the Bang for the Buck. however it is still a Good Short term Accessory to have.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally report that the BumpSkid fits well and protects the front end from hard landings and jumps, with one reviewer noting it fits several Kyosho models beyond the listed MP9 TKI3 variant, including MP9 TKI4, MP10 TKI2, MP10 TKI3, MP10E TKI2 and MP10TE. Reviewers say it is an improvement over the stock front guard. The main recurring concern is the soft plastic: repeated removal and reassembly of the front drive assembly stretches the screw holes and thins the material, and one reviewer felt it wears quickly for the price. One reviewer suggested the rear guard is not worth buying.

  • + Good front-end protection on jumps
  • + Fits well and installs easily
  • + Fits several Kyosho models
  • + Better than stock front guard
  • − Soft plastic wears quickly
  • − Screw holes stretch with repeated removal
  • − Poor value for the price
  • − Rear guard not recommended
