It's a great shock tool, and helpful for removing pivot balls, but the hole punch doesn't even work. It's not even sharp enough to punch a hole in a 1/8 scale buggy tire, it just leaves an indent. Perhaps I got a dud, not sure, but I'm afraid to repurchase another one just to have that hole punch feature fail as well. Since half of the tool functions, it deserve 2.5 stars.

These are the best shock pliers on the market. The tire punch is an amazing feature. Hell I had an alternator go bad on the way to a track and replaced with only these pliers and a flathead screwdriver...

Where have these been all my life?? They make building shocks a breeze. Extremely high quality and work as advertised. A+ on this one!

They just came to me. wanting to be able to use, they look comfortable and standard size.

good multi-tool with one fatal flaw. I bought this for the tire hole punch feature. Great tool until i had to put pop out the ball pivots for my B6.2d. The hole for the pivot ball to fall thru, is a 1/4inch, which is too small for the flange side of the ball pivot. Even if you somehow muscle the pivot ball thru the hole, the cut-out on the side of the pliers is too short for the pivot ball to eject out. I ended up enlarging the hole to 5/16 on a drill-press, and made the pliers useful. Even though a pivot ball was ruined with these pliers, but i didn't want to toss these pliers in the trash since the value of not carrying a separate tire punch is an added benefit for me.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally praise the tool's shock-building convenience and build quality, with one describing it as a standout shock tool. Opinions diverge on the tire hole punch: one reviewer found it too weak to punch a 1/8 scale buggy tire, leaving only an indent, while another praised it as a key feature. A recurring issue is pivot ball removal: one reviewer reported the 1/4 inch hole is too small for the flange side of a pivot ball and the side cut-out is too short for ejection, requiring them to enlarge the hole, and a pivot ball was damaged. Reviews are few, and one reviewer compared it to a general-purpose tool used in an emergency repair.

  • + Useful tire hole punch for some owners
  • + Multi-tool convenience
