This is a great first jet to get into! Why? First its UMX small so easy to transport and uses relatively cheap batteries too! Rudder command is very strong with two surface controls for rudder. Tough - I've crashed mine more than a few times and repair has been done with foam to foam glue, tape and toothpicks! Still flying and yes, I will buy another and keep flying this A10 even after the wings finally fall off this one I'm currently flying! I have flown it a LOT this first RC plane flying summer for me! Fast to bind up to my Spektrum NX8! Enjoying the bind and fly approach! I moved from a mini aeroscount to Aeroscout, skip the Sport Cub S2 (not too happy with that plane: reliability issue with the ESC!! non crash related) currently flying the Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5M. This plane is excellent for getting into Jets and other planes due to cost, size , performance and capable to fly in not so ideal windy scenarios. I have new in box and unopened the Eflite F15, Drago, Dual 64mm EDF A10 Tomcat F14 Tomcat (on order, backordered). They are just waiting for me to get my skills up and this UMX A10 30mm is a great first jet! EDIT: I have now opened and flew the Eflite F5 many times and still credit this A10 as a great entry into the EDF realm of rc planes.
By far one of the easiest and coolest UMX planes to fly just put in batteries and have fun. I flew mine in 10 mile hour winds (not recommended) but yet it flew like a champ. It’s fast and just so awesome. And just love amain hobbies is an awesome company to get yours fast shipping and great customer service
I was impressed to see the flying A-10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCwKlwpvSEo&t=2s It is cool!!
The plane took off, picked up speed, did not rise quickly, when it rose about 5 feet it did not want to go up any more and went straight at speed and hit a tree because it did not want to come down, it broke into 4 pieces.
Four reviews, three of them five-star and one one-star. Reviewers praise the A-10 as an easy, fast and durable first jet in the UMX micro class, citing strong rudder response, easy transport, inexpensive batteries and quick binding to a Spektrum transmitter. One owner reported repeated crashes that were repaired with foam glue, tape and toothpicks and kept flying. Another reviewer flew in 10 mph winds despite the not-recommended conditions and found it performed well. The single one-star review describes the aircraft failing to climb after takeoff and striking a tree, breaking into pieces. The reviews do not describe the cause of that failure. Reviewers also mention positive dealer shipping and service.
- + Easy first jet to fly
- + Strong rudder response
- + Easy to transport and inexpensive batteries
- + Durable under repeated crashes
- − Single report of failure to climb after takeoff
- − Fragile in crashes according to one owner
