I had two Gens Ace iMars chargers which did not balance accurately, (even when correctly calibrated) which caused the first cell in a battery to be considerably lower than it should have been after charging (like almost 50 mV off from the factory on both chargers). I decided to look for a similar charger with the same form factor and I stumbled upon the Electron Dual, which is a rebranded iMars D300. However, despite being pretty much the same product the Electron Dual is very accurate when balancing and doesn’t have any problems at all charging and storaging. I have mine set to 4.18 v/cell and after charging a 6s 6000mAh LiPo, the final voltages ranged from 4.189v to 4.183v, which seems really good compared to my other chargers. As i mentioned before, it’s very similar to the iMars D300, other than the redesigned cooling vents which the D300 doesn’t have. This similarity becomes even more obvious as my crawler G-Tech 4300 LiHV packs are recognized by the Electron Dual and begin charging as normal with the correct settings, which is a win in my book as I now have an accurate charger that can also charge G-Tech batteries automatically. The quality of the charger feels great and nothing vibrates or makes strange noises. However, two things the D300 has that the Dual doesn’t seem to have is the ability to charge NiMH or set the menus to alternate languages. For me, this isn’t an issue, but if you want to charge older batteries or are not an English speaker, these could pose a problem. Other than that, it’s a great charger and I’ll definitely be replacing my D300s with these.

I've only used it twice so far but works really great for the price. I like how it's compact and small so I can take it to the races with me.

Works great! I love being able to just plug the battery in and the charger takes care of the rest.

Worst charger I have ever owned. The voltage readouts for the cells are wildly inaccurate. The fan is noisy. It ruined a set of brand new SMC batteries when I was cycling them. Set the discharge to 3.5V but it took them all the way down to 2.8V. I have been in touch with Gens Ace and Amain support about this and they refuse to do anything.

Awesome charger, small, compact and super easy to use. Also charges super fast.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally praise the charger as compact, easy to use, fast, and good value, particularly for beginners and racers who travel. One detailed reviewer, a verified owner who previously used a similar iMars-based charger, reports that this unit balances accurately and finishes charging with cell voltages close to the set target. Criticism is more mixed: one reviewer reports inaccurate cell voltage readouts, a noisy fan, and over-discharge of new batteries, and says the manufacturer and battery brands did not respond. Another notes that balance boards are not included, and one reviewer found it will not charge a smart battery without the smart connection, even with an adapter. Several reviews are brief and do not mention specifics.

  • + Compact and portable
  • + Easy to use and navigate
  • + Fast charging
  • + Good value for the price
  • − Balance boards not included
  • − Inaccurate cell voltage readout (single report)
  • − Noisy fan (single report)
  • − Will not charge smart batteries without smart connection
