About the WP173 Servo
High Performance
The WP173 servo offers exceptional performance with high torque and high-speed operation. At 6 volts, it delivers an operating speed of 0.09 seconds per 60°, while at 8.4 volts, the speed increases to an impressive 0.07 seconds per 60°. This rapid response time ensures precise control, making it ideal for competitive racing or complex maneuvers. With dynamic torque ranging from 123 ounces per inch at 6 volts to 173 ounces per inch at 8.4 volts, this servo is more than capable of handling the toughest tasks.
Durable Construction
Built to last, the WP173 features full metal gear ball bearings and a waterproof aluminum case, ensuring it can withstand harsh environments and heavy use. The all-metal gear train provides the strength needed to resist wear and tear, while the waterproof design protects the servo's internal components from moisture and dust. The addition of an aluminum servo horn further enhances its durability and reliability.
Wide Compatibility
Designed for versatility, the WP173 operates within a wide voltage range of 6 to 8.4 volts, making it compatible with a variety of RC models. Its twenty-five-tooth, five-millimeter diameter output shaft is standard, allowing for easy integration with most setups. Whether you're upgrading an existing model or starting to build one, this servo is an excellent choice for those requiring high performance in a compact size.

I purchased one of these servos for my new Typhon Grom BLX because of my experience with other EcoPower servos. The difference between the stock Grom servos and the ECP-173 is night and day. It has the speed and ability to return the tires to center where as the stock one you have to over correct to return them to center. Especially if you are running Proline Badlands. I just purchased one for my Mojave Grom BLX as well.
The worst designed servo horn screw ever! The screw mounting the servo horn to the 25t spline is M2.3 (measured to 2.25mm). Why couldn't the use a universal size like M2 or M2.5? This is a complete waste of money if you planned to replace the screw to different servo horn.
Solid servo. Powerful and quiet. I used this in a heavy trx4m that likes to strip servos and it seems to be holding up well.
Gears stripped 5mins in while running on dirt. I wasn't taking out to bash i was testing it after replacing the gears inside ( i stripped it initially). I usually don't put servo savers but I’m not even sure that will help. Look some where else! Was running on a arrma mojave grom .
Bad right out of the box. Would not center and had a death wobble when it tried.
Reviews are sharply split. Several owners praise the servo's power, speed and ability to return steering to centre, particularly on Grom-class vehicles, and some report long-term durability in demanding applications. Other reviewers report stripped gears within minutes of running, servos failing soon after purchase, and units that would not centre or twitched out of the box. One reviewer criticised the non-standard M2.3 horn screw, which limits replacement options. Failure reports come from a mix of Grom and 1/18 applications, and several are from buyers whose return windows had closed. The pattern of early failures and out-of-box faults is the most consistent concern, while performance praise is also common.
