Junk, one run and it started grinding and slipping. Took it to my rc repairman and he said the wrong bearings were sent in the kit. Waste of $139 for junk!

Maxx Effort RCon Element RC Enduro Portal Axle Conversion Kit

I have now put over a year on these axles and they are fantastic, I haven’t broken anything with these axles, I have axial Capra portal gears in the rear for under drive, artful dodger portal brass, brass diff cover. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy these again. They are great axles

Robert Williamson Element RC Enduro Portal Axle Conversion Kit

vague instructions, my kit didn't have the turnbuckles threaded left and right hand threads, so setting the rear end up took quite a while, very poor fitment of the ring and pinion, way too tight, wouldn't turn when assembled, took quite a while to get the mesh set up properly, lots of tweaking and trimming and some grinding to get it loose enough to spin without binding on both front and rear axles, and roughly 2 minutes in to my first run, my rig wouldn't turn right, the very small size of the splines holding the hub from twisting are ridiculous, and the set screws didn't hold it tight either, so it let the hub rotate on the axle, very poor engineering, will not buy them ever again, and I would strongly suggest no one else does either. I own lots of Associated cars, and never had issues like this before, very unsatisfied with them!

What reviewers say

Three reviews give mixed-to-negative feedback on the Element RC Enduro Portal Axle Conversion Kit, with two low ratings and one high rating. The one 5/5 review, from a reviewer noting over a year of use with no breakage, praises the axles and their compatibility with other portal parts. The two 1/5 reviews report problems: one owner says the kit arrived with the wrong bearings and the drivetrain began grinding and slipping after one run; the other describes unclear instructions, missing left- and right-hand turnbuckle threads, tight ring and pinion mesh requiring trimming and grinding, small hub splines, and set screws that let the hub rotate. Recurring concerns are assembly difficulty and hub retention. The sample is very small, so these patterns may not be representative.

  • + Durable in one long-term review
  • + Works with aftermarket portal parts
  • − Wrong bearings reported
  • − Unclear instructions and missing turnbuckle threads
  • − Tight ring and pinion mesh needing adjustment
