Unleash your adventurous spirit with the Element RC Enduro Trailwalker Portal Plus Trail Truck, a rock crawler engineered for ultimate performance and durability. Designed to conquer the toughest trails, this RTR masterpiece features high-clearance portal axles, a rugged chassis, and a powerful electronic system that guarantees precision and reliability on every rocky ascent!

About the Trailwalker Portal Plus

Chassis & Body

The Element RC Enduro Trailwalker Portal Plus Trail Truck is designed for enthusiasts who crave performance and durability on challenging trails. Its chassis is built from stamped steel, providing robust support and stability, while the innovative integrated servo winch mount enhances weight distribution for optimal handling. The truck features high-clearance portal axles that increase ground clearance by nearly an inch compared to standard straight axles, allowing it to conquer tough obstacles with ease. The aesthetically appealing body is crafted from high-strength polycarbonate and comes pre-painted with a glossy metallic finish. Its single-piece design includes a detachable bed topper, roll bar, and numerous scale details like windshield wipers and a faux spare tire mount. Additionally, the officially licensed General Grabber™ X3 tires, made from a high-performance soft compound, are mounted on stylish bronze Ocho beadlock wheels, ensuring superior grip and eliminating worries about tires coming unglued during intense crawling sessions.

Drivetrain & Suspension

At the heart of the Enduro Trailwalker Portal Plus lies an advanced drivetrain and suspension system, engineered for optimal performance in the most demanding conditions. The standout feature is the updated high-clearance portal axles, which provide nearly an inch more ground clearance than standard straight axles, enabling effortless navigation over obstacles. These axles incorporate all-metal gears and a larger pocket for a more robust inner input bearing, ensuring durability and minimizing the risk of gear failure under heavy loads. The Stealth® X transmission enhances versatility, featuring adjustable rear drive ratios with standard options of 5.7% and 11.83% and the possibility for an optional 12/23 gear set for an additional 36% overdrive. Complementing this setup is a well-engineered suspension system comprising a 3-link front and 4-link rear configuration, optimized for fluid articulation and stability during rugged climbs and descents.

Electronics

Powering the Enduro Trailwalker Portal Plus is a set of reliable and high-performance electronics that elevate its trail capabilities. At the heart of this rig is the Reedy Power 14-turn 5-slot brushed crawler motor, designed to deliver ample torque and smooth power delivery, facilitating precise slow acceleration across challenging terrains. This motor is paired with a 2-in-1 water-resistant electronic speed controller (ESC) and receiver unit that simplifies the wiring and enhances the overall reliability of the setup. The inclusion of a high-torque metal gear servo ensures precise control while navigating technical rock features. Coupled with a 4-channel 2.4GHz radio system, these electronics provide the responsiveness and power needed to tackle any trail with confidence, making the Enduro Trailwalker Portal Plus a top choice for both novice and experienced crawlers alike.

Truck performs as it should. However the condition the truck came in is another thing. All the wheels have grooving on them like a scratch. The body had paint worn all the way through. Rusted screws and worn out sliders. Kind of crazy I recieved it in the way I did. Reached out to amain..nothing but crickets ... I really anticipated the arrival on this truck so I was super bummed to see the condition it arrived in. But I still have fun with it.

Plugged my battery in and made sure my remote was on. When I turned on the truck it took off. If I squeeze the trigger it stops and if I release it goes full speed. Reverse doesnt work and if I barely tap the remote, it turns off. I am going to have to replace the esc and remote right out the gate. Super disappointed in this truck. For 500 bucks I was hoping for better quality electronics.

What reviewers say

Three reviews, with ratings of 1 to 2 out of 5, describe the Trailwalker Portal Plus RTR rock crawler as performing adequately when working but plagued by quality issues. One reviewer reports that the truck runs but arrived with worn paint, scratched wheels, rusted screws and worn sliders, and that the seller did not respond to a complaint. Another reports the power switch on the remote failed after one battery use. A third reports the truck ran away on startup, the trigger control was erratic, reverse did not work, and the reviewer expected to replace the ESC and remote. Reviewers agree that the electronics and remote feel low quality for the price. The sample is small and the issues are reported by only one reviewer each, so the picture is limited.

  • + Performs as expected once running
  • + Still fun to drive for one owner
  • − Electronics and remote feel cheap
  • − Remote power switch failed quickly
  • − Erratic throttle and reverse failure
  • − Cosmetic damage and rust on arrival
