About this part

This is an optional Exotek Black 1/8 V2 E-Buggy Clamp On Fan Mount, a clamp on alloy fan mount for high powered 40mm and 30mm fans, designed for use with 1/8th scale motors to keep them form fading or melting down with heat. The mounting bracket has multi-mount features that allows the fan to be securely affixed to the motor can, even in tight spaces. No more ejected fans after big jumps! The extra modular design means with a few adjustments you can mount a fan securely in any 1/8 Truggy and most e-buggies and the mount positions the fans 10-14mm away from the motor can. This proper spacing helps insure the fan does not lose rpm's due to magnetic interference from your motor. A fan that is placed too close to the motor can actually stop spinning as you apply maximum throttle due to the fact that the motors stronger EMF can slow or shut down the fans EMF.

Features:
  • Designed for 1/8th scale vehicles
  • Designed for use with high power 40mm and 30mm fans
  • Anodized black
  • Fits motor diameters between 39.5mm-40.5mm

Metal ring failed less than 3 months later. It's fairly thin and snapped/broke apart.

Fits the stock motor on my Kraton 6S (V5). Used with a 40mm fan. Does not come with screws to mount your choice of fan to the ring. Not an issue but something to anticipate. As with most metal-to-metal connections, use a small amount of loctite on the screws.

been using this on 1/8 buggy w a 40mm fan w zero issues, and we have pretty rough tracks - the mount holds firm. just need to make sure each time a screw is tightened it has fresh locktite applied and has cured before running on a track. confirmed does fit perfectly on the ends of a hobbywing 4268 - will not clamp in the middle around the slightly raised heatsink.

Great part. Not made to be exposed to crashes. Must be under the body and protected or it will break after a couple crashes. Fit my Castle motor fine. Works best with the fan shroud that directs air onto body. Gives it some protection.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally report the clamp-on fan mount fits motors well, including a stock Kraton 6S motor, a Hobbywing 4268 (at the ends only), and a Castle motor, and holds firm on rough tracks with a 40mm fan. Several reviewers advise applying threadlocker to the screws and note that fan mounting screws are not included. One reviewer found the metal ring thin and reported it broke apart within three months. Another stated the part is not designed for crashes and should be protected under the body, as it may break after a few crashes. Reviews are few, and the failure reports involve the same thin-ring concern.

  • + Fits a range of motors
  • + Holds firm on rough tracks
  • + Works with 40mm fan
  • − Thin metal ring can break
  • − Not crash-resistant without protection
  • − Fan mount screws not included
  • − Does not clamp over raised heatsink mid-section
