Don't waste your money. This part changes the pivot from the stock hinge pins style to having pins on each end of this new system and those pins go directly into the old hinge pins hole in the plastic chassis. so it is basically pivoting in a plastic hole that will gaud over time. Mine was also super stiff to move by hand. Its just not a good design.
3 stars is literally a compromise on one star and five on this. Install is a nightmare due to draglink hardware coming up from under chassis pan versus the OEM that comes down in from top. The HR and Injora also drop in from top. It’s pre assembly outside with completion done in chassis and it’s not pleasant. Instructions state ‘do not over tighten hardware and to use blue Loctite’, which on aluminum I always do. The issue is Loctite is a preventative measure not the primary, and if the washers are stacked as instructed that is exactly what the Loctite becomes is the primary. Moral is the supplied bushings drop in from the top side on drag link, I used only the screw, no washer, just the screw with Loctite. Was able to get clamp load on hardware and still free movement. Next is machine pivot shafts which will replace the standalone pivot pin. Too tight, once everything is together it has considerable drag. After servo and servo saver attached the rack and saver just don’t get along. So put it comes again. The OEM pivot pins are .0965”-.097”, this rack measures in at .099”-.100”. So after chucking into a Snap On 14.4 drill converting into a lathe use diamond file and emery cloth to turn the machined pivot pins down to .097”. Reassemble and free movement is perfect. Tie in servo saver and servo. Everything is good. So that’s the one star, lot of jiving around to get it in and working and yes this could be a one off for my truck and rack. Once fitted and in absolutely 5 star. Looks better, tightens the steering up so much. Removes all the lateral end play from hub to hub. The machined pivot pins are just superior to stand alone guide pins. I would definitely buy again knowing now what to do to make it right.
This lost 1 start because the installation instructions are so poor. They include a leaflet printed in black and white, with ambiguous labeling and I'm pretty sure there is an error pointing you to install (unspecified) screws in a whole which does not receive screws. One tip - when you insert the linkage through the chassis, put it through upside down. This way you can actually, physically, screw on the left-side steering component. After you've screwed on that left-side component you can rotate the whole bellcrank set upright and finish the installation. Besides the poor instructions, they seemed to have done an excellent job with machining these tiny parts. Everything fits very rigidly and it does not appear to have any flex or slop like you get with the stock plastic bellcrank. The red finish looks great and matches the Arrma red pretty well.
Best steering rack there is for the groms. Absolutely no play. My mojave had the typical wander they all get when they get beat up from jumping. I tried other brands but they all had some sort of play this doesnt. It also comes with instructions on how to install it. I have this paired up with an agfrc micro servo, injora steering links, and the injora servo saver with drag link. It finally drives like new again. Dont waste your time on the other steering racks! Get this!
This is the best steering rack for groms on the market right now. There is NO play at all anymore! I have tried many different steering racks for my groms, all of them had some play.
Reviewers largely praise the bellcrank set for eliminating steering play on Arrma Grom and Losi NASCAR HD chassis, with two verified owners describing it as the best rack they tried for their setups. Build quality and machining are described as tight and rigid. Criticism centres on installation: the draglink hardware installs from underneath the chassis pan, unlike the OEM and other racks, and instructions are described as poor, with unclear labelling and a suspected error about screw locations. One reviewer found the pivot design, which seats pins into the original plastic hinge holes, likely to wear and reported stiff movement. Ratings range from 1 to 5 stars, with the stronger reviews focused on fit and play.
- + No steering play
