These are ridiculously bad. DO not buy if you expect them to mount straight up to the ring gear. You have to first use a Dremel to bore out the hardened ring gear holes because the provided screws don't fit through the holes!! Then, once you have done that, you find out that they have provided you with 4 (or 5, I got 5 in my packet) 2.6mm x 12mm screws, but these screws are FAR TOO LONG to go into the diff cup. I had to cut the screws shorter with a Dremel also. Ridiculous.
Is of good quality and improved my Losi Rock Rey. The stock one was out of plastik and the screws ripp off or even broke. I had a fitting problem with the screws included but at the end I used a bit more force and then all was good. Will buy an other one just to have it as spare.
This did not bolt right up for me. The hex screws that come with the diff are just a hair larger diameter than the countersunk holes in the gear(maybe just mine)...and the gear is hardened steel, so it’s not easy to bore the holes out.
Bought two of these for my Rock Rey. A lot of machined aluminum parts look nice, my question is always "how well do they fit?" I'm happy to report these are amazing. Very well machined and everything bolts up perfectly. I'm looking forward to my next Exotek purchase.
Fits great on my Losi Baja Rey 1/10 scale, Only had to bore out the ring gear for the bigger screws. As for the other comments regarding the work involved, if you don't expect a little bit of work on an aftermarket part to make your whole rig stronger then you shouldn't be upgrading at all. Took me less than two minutes to dremel out the holes slightly for the bigger screws. Thing is bullet proof now, no more stripping rear diff cups..Great purchase!
Reviewers generally rate this aluminum differential gear case highly for build quality and durability, with several reporting it outlasts the stock plastic part and holds up to bashing. The most consistent issue is fitment: many owners had to enlarge the countersunk ring gear holes with a Dremel or drill, since the included hardware is too large for the holes, and some found the supplied screws too long for the diff cup and had to shorten them. Experiences differ; some reviewers reported a straight bolt-up with no modification, and others noted that newer Baja Rey versions may need more drilling. One reviewer reported the aluminum wearing on the output shafts over time. Reviews refer to the Rock/Baja Rey variant, mostly on Baja Rey models.
