The Furitek Torpedo for the TRX4m is MUCH smaller than I anticipated (MOTOR AND ESC). You'll see that that when you get it in your hands. BUT, it delivers on power and control! It woke the TRX4m up big time! Really made it fun again. It almost compensates for the binding the TRX4m does when steering too, as in you basically don't notice the binding anymore. My rig binds badly, not sure about other's rigs. It's now a true mini version of my TRX-4 Defender (1/10), which has the Hobbywing Fusion Pro (2300KV). Now, both rigs have excellent low end speed control and much higher speed than stock. I'm using the stock gearing (axle and tranny) and it crawls probably slower and better than the stock ESC with Crawler Gears in the Tranny. As in, I don't even need to install gears. I might install some just to try it, like some Injora 9% lower diff gears possibly, but that's about it. I like the increased wheel spin. In fact, it will pull wheelies now and is probably twice as fast as stock, and it will jump now, and pop up and over things like solid axle rigs do. It's super cool now. And, I haven't even used the Bluetooth Furicar App yet...No need to yet. If you're thinking about it, do it. It takes the TRX4m from anemic to a little powerhouse, but still the stock battery last a LONG time.

If you are looking for a turn key brushless setup then this is it. I partnered this system up to a TREAL aluminum transmission housing and Injora 24:4:1 gears - with stock motor this puts speed between crawler and trail gears. With the furitek brushless system and these gears it’s faster than trail gears but has the torque of the crawler gears. The system is infinitely smoother than the stock system from traxxas. If you are new to RC you will need a separate radio and receiver. Low speed crawling is even better than crawler gears with stock motor. This is also an FOC system which I didn’t know when buying so that was a nice surprise. All screw holes lined up and everything fit together nicely. Painless install. Calibrating the ESC from the smartphone app was also nice, no extra adapters needed. A+ to furitek.

Flawless combo, I run it on 3S and temps are fine. Absolute powerhouse, highly recommend.

I was on the fence about going brushless but I’m glad I did. It’s better than I thought it would be. Tons of wheel speed AND awesome slow crawl, and the ability to adjust all the different parameters is a huge bonus.

What reviewers say

All four reviewers are verified owners of the Furitek Torpedo 118 Brushless Combo for the Traxxas TRX-4M and rate it 5/5. Reviewers agree it delivers strong power and good low-speed control, with noticeably smoother operation than the stock Traxxas system, and that it improves both crawling and top speed. One reviewer notes the motor and ESC are physically smaller than expected. Reviewers report it pairs well with aftermarket gearing and that the parameters are adjustable. One reviewer mentions it reduces the impression of steering binding, while noting binding may vary between rigs. One reviewer says a separate radio and receiver are required. Reviews are few in number and all positive, so the sample is limited.
