About this part

The Gens Ace Imars Mini Charger is an Intelligent Charger designed specifically for the Gens Ace G-Tech line of smart batteries, which is also compatible with non-smart batteries. When connected to a Gens Ace G-Tech battery, the Imars Mini charger will automatically identify the battery type, voltage through the smart balance connector, and charging current recommended by the battery manufacturer. The charger will automatically start charging in 5 seconds after a G-Tech smart battery is connected.

For non-smart batteries, it's necessary to manually select the battery type and the required working mode to get it started. The charger can intelligently adjust the charging current according to the charging voltage flow of the battery.

NOTE: This charger requires a high output power supply brick. Smartphones, tablets and other type of 'device' bricks are not powerful enough from our testing. If you don't have one, be sure to buy the Gen 65W brick separately, or buy the charger version with the 65W brick included.

Features:

  • Charges 2-4S LiPo, LiHV, LiFe, and 2-12S NiMH batteries
  • Intelligently recognizes G-Tech smart battery info through an IC chip for safe and easy charging
  • Automatic storage function, it's the smallest charger with auto storage
  • Updated interface design and increased balance connector durability
  • Small & lightweight, portable design

Specifications:

Gabriel Bairdon Gens Ace Imars Mini 2-4S G-Tech USB-C DC Charger (5A/60W)

Great USB-C charger. It charges my G-Tech batteries as well as standard batteries. It’s very easy to use and uses lots of software magic to not damage or apply too much current. It only works on high-powered USB-C bricks, for obvious reasons. I checked the maximum current drawn with a smart charger and it pulled over 55w @ 20V charging a 9500mAh 4s. It’s very small and compact, so perfect for charging batteries on trips or at the field.

Does not work. Plugged into every type c usb charger I own and it just flashes and will not let me do anything. Stay away from this at all cost.

This charger works great, but it requires a high output power supply brick. Smartphone, tablet and other type of 'device' bricks are not powerful enough from our testing. If you don't have one, buy the charger version with the 65W brick.

What reviewers say

Reviewers agree the charger works well when paired with a high-powered USB-C supply, and one reviewer reports it charging both G-Tech and standard 4S packs with compact, easy operation. The main point of disagreement is power source: one 1/5 verified-owner review says it fails to operate on any USB-C charger they own, flashing without allowing charging. A recurring caveat across reviews is that smartphone and tablet bricks are often not powerful enough, so a high-output supply is required. One reviewer measured draw of over 55W at 20V while charging a 9500mAh 4S pack. Overall the reviews are few and conflicting.

  • + Works well with a high-output USB-C supply
  • + Charges G-Tech and standard batteries
  • + Compact and easy to use
  • + Measured draw over 55W at 20V
  • − Needs a high-power USB-C brick
  • − Phone and tablet chargers often underpowered
  • − One verified owner reports it does not work
  • − Flashes without allowing charging for that owner
