Not sure what makes these better than the stock shims The stock one last ways longer(not Verified Owner)
Not sure what makes these better than the stock shims. The first thing I did was to test to see how hard they are to bend, and they can be folded in half quite easily with your fingers, and are not springy at all. The stock Shims are harder, and the MIP shims are way harder. It was not worth it to me to put these in, so in the trash they go.
These are somewhat harder than stock and hold up a little better but wear because of the diff design almost as fast. Still, use this on builds after the stockers have gone. They won't reduce noise or give other advantages.
These do make the diffs feel smoother but they also wear out quite fast too. Gotta replace these at least every 5-6 months of weekend club races. Mine were worn down to little razor blades that was just after 4 months. I guess for the price its not that bad.
What the diffs should already come with from Losi. No more tight binding diff action on a new build. Wear rate isn't known to me yet, but can't be worse than the horrible factory shims.
Reviewers are divided on this 5x10x0.2mm hardened differential shim set for SCTE diffs. Two 1-star reviewers found the shims bend easily and are not springy, judging them no better than stock and not worth fitting. Two 4-star reviewers found them somewhat harder than stock and smoother in the diff, but reported fast wear, with one saying worn shims appeared after about four months of weekend club racing and another recommending replacement every five to six months. Two 5-star reviewers praised reduced binding on a new build and a noticeable drop in diff noise, though one noted wear rate was not yet known. Wear and value for money are the recurring points of discussion.
