About this part

This is the Hitec High Votage D625MW High Speed Metal Gear Servo. The metal D-625MW is part of Hitecs D-Series servo line. All Hitec D-Series servos have been designed using Hitecs redesigned, cutting edge, custom engineering. Combining industry leading high-resolution, state-of-the-art ultra-response technology with a 32-bit MCU and 12-bit ADC for unprecedented programmability and flexibility, these servos deliver significantly smoother movement. The speedy, powerful line operates on a wide 4.8 ~ 8.4 voltage range, allowing use with any common battery chemistry without the need for adapters or regulators. Featuring Hitec’s industry standard 25-tooth output spline with 3mm hex screw, each D-Series servo brings monster performance never known before in the market.

Incredible value. I have 100$+ brushless servos that do not hold their position as well as the 625MW. I am also really impressed with how this servo has absolutely no free play. Obviously at that price point it's not very fast, but I found it worked very smoothly and can't complain about it's performance. I use it at 6v on a 1/10 scale on-road car. The only small complaint is that Hitec market it as part of the D series that supposedly work on up to 8.4v (connected direct to a 2S battery) but that servo is actually only rated for up to 7.4v.

I finally dropped the Hitec D625MW into my steering rack, and I’ve realized my RC car now has the reflexes of a ninja guarding the last slice of pizza. This thing is so fast that the tires move before I even finish thinking about turning the wheel. The Speed Hitec calls this "High Speed," but that’s an understatement. It’s more like "Telepathic." I gave the steering a quick flick on the workbench and the tires snapped left so hard they nearly slapped the transmitter out of my hand. If this servo were any faster, it would be steering into the future, avoiding crashes that haven't even happened yet. Hitec RCD says it’s 32-bit technology, which basically means it’s smarter than my first laptop and significantly more coordinated than I am. Metal Gear part is vital because I drive like I’m trying to spite the laws of physics. I’ve slammed into enough curbs and roots to turn a plastic-geared servo into a pile of confetti, but the D625MW just shrugs it off. It meets my voltage needs too, so I plugged it straight into a 7.4V 2S LiPo, and the steering response became so aggressive it started intimidating the local feral cats. I think the "D" series servo, which apparently stands for "Dang, that’s smooth." There is zero jitter. None. My old servo used to hum and twitch like a dog with a tail surrounded by rocking chairs, but the D625MW sits there in eerie silence, holding center with the stubbornness of a mule refusing to move. It’s got a 25-tooth spline now, too, so I could finally use my fancy aluminum servo horns without having to perform surgery on them. If you’re tired of your steering feeling like you’re trying to navigate a boat with a wet noodle, buy this. It’s tough, it’s lightning-quick, and it’s programmable—though I haven't touched the settings because I’m afraid if I make it any faster, it’ll start questioning my steering ability in real-time. 6/5 — My tires are now faster than my brain, but then again most things are faster than mine at this point.

Zero slop, excellent resolution and centering.. slow return to neutral when powering on rocks! For this price this servo has far exceeded my expectations! The only drawback is that this D625 only has stated torque of up to 10kg while the other D645 only has up to 12kg, however if your application only has requirements within this torque range, u cant go wrong with this servo.. i have found a new go to servo for my large warbirds :)

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally rate the Hitec D625MW highly for its price, citing zero free play, precise centering, and smooth operation. One reviewer found it not especially fast, while another described it as very quick, so speed perceptions differ. Two reviewers use it in RC cars and one in large warbirds. A recurring point is that the servo's stated voltage and torque ratings are lower than the wider D-series range suggests: one reviewer noted it is rated to 7.4V rather than the 8.4V implied by the series, and another noted 10kg torque compared with 12kg for the D645. A reviewer also reported slow return to neutral at power-on. The third review is largely humorous and offers little technical detail.

  • + Zero free play
  • + Precise centering and resolution
  • + Smooth operation
  • + Strong value for the price
  • − Rated to 7.4V, below D-series implication
  • − Lower torque (10kg) than D645
  • − Slow return to neutral at power-on
  • − Not very fast for some users
