About this part

This is the Hitec D955TW Monster Torque Titanium Gear Digital Servo. The power of Hitec’s D-Series servos continues with the introduction of the next Premium Class trio: the D930SW, D954SW and D955TW. As with Hitec's entire “D” line, these technologically-advanced servos are powered by a 32-bit MCU (Microcontroller Unit) and 12-bit ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) industrial science and possess Smart Sense engineering with rapid, high resolution response. This servo features unprecedented programmability and wide-voltage capabilities to deliver the most progressive, leading-edge performance for all radio control needs. The reliably-strong titanium-geared D955TW replaces the well-known HS-7955TH. Advancing servo technology and providing superior engineering has always been Hitec’s mission and that continues today as they expand their outstanding D-Series product line.

A fantastic addition to my SMT10. A BEC is a must if you want to get the full potential out of this servo. Rest assured it is up to the task once you do.

Good servo but us not compatible with new hitek recievers. Again hobby was able to refund D955TW servos. Info I have about this servo reciever combo was from hirek. There working on a patch to fix this centering problem. Other non hiteck receivers work According to hiteck.

Ordered 7 of these. 3 of them flutter under no load so bad that I can’t risk flying the plane they’re installed in. Futaba receiver, LiIon battery. They’re installed like I’ve done in all my other planes which I’ve never had a problem and I use hitec servos almost exclusively. Submitted my issue to AMAIN. They’re “reviewing it”. No response yet but they’re less than 2 months old and have never been “in flight”.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally find the D955TW a strong servo with high torque when powered adequately; one notes a BEC is needed to get full performance from it in an SMT10. The main disagreement concerns compatibility: one buyer reported that several units fluttered under no load, making them unsafe to fly, despite a Futaba receiver and LiIon battery, and was awaiting a response from the seller. Another reviewer reported incompatibility with newer Hitec receivers, with a centering problem the manufacturer was reportedly working to patch, and noted that non-Hitec receivers worked. Recurring themes are power supply requirements and receiver pairing. Reviews are few and cover differing setups.

  • + Strong performance in an SMT10 with adequate power
  • + Reviewer found it up to the task once a BEC is used
  • − Fluttering under no load on some units
  • − Incompatibility reported with newer Hitec receivers
  • − Centering problem with Hitec receiver pairing
