Amazing motor! I use it paired with a Max8 in my V5 Typhon as I didn’t like the performance of the 2250Kv (overheated a little too soon for my liking). This motor is a beast. It just barely fits (about 1mm to spare underneath) but it does fit fine once everything is tightened up. On Hoons it manages about 80+ with 24 degrees turbo timing and it can do almost 15 minutes of decently hard pulls without getting too hot. I use a PowerHobby 49mm fan clamp with dual high speed 40mm fans @ 8.4v and the overall setup is extremely fast, cool and smooth. Turbo timing works great (you can hear the rpms ramp up at full throttle after the turbo delay) and sensored with the Max8 is seamless. Overall an awesome motor for any 1/8 car (if you can fit it!)
Ran 2 qualifier races and all of a sudden no throttle response and found the motor shaft snapped clean off losing my pinion and points for my race series .
Thumbs up five star rating really good price they're shipping is really fast also I would definitely recommend ordering again
Excellent motor for LIGHTWEIGHT XMAXX builds. Same size as a stock XMAXX motor, with little added weight. Will overheat if you’re XMAXX is over 25/30 lbs without proper cooling.
Great motor, I had the 4985 1650Kv motor in my Mojave and wanted to run 4S so I got the 4990 1650KV, talk about fast. Definitely a good upgrade!!!!!
Reviewers generally praise the motor's power, speed and smoothness, particularly in 1/6 and 1/7 scale builds on 4S to 6S packs with Hobbywing ESCs. Several note it fits tightly in some chassis and that overheating can occur in heavier builds without good cooling. Two reviewers report the output shaft breaking, one during racing and one while removing the pinion, and one mentions a shaft failure after aggressive use with a large pinion. Shipping and value were also praised. Shaft breakage is the main recurring complaint, and reviews are mixed on durability.
- + Strong power and speed
- + Smooth, cool running with proper cooling
- + Good value and fast shipping
- + Works well with Hobbywing ESCs
- − Output shaft breakage reported
- − Overheats in heavy builds without cooling
- − Tight fit in some chassis
