Hobbywing EZRun Max8 G2S Brushless ESC/4278SD G2R Motor Combo (2250kV)
About this part
Electric Motor and ESC Combo:
The Hobbywing EZRun Max8 G2S Brushless ESC and 4278SD G2R Brushless Motor Combo are engineered to deliver peak performance in 1/8 scale applications. This heavy hitting combo features the optimized G2R Brushless Motor, which offers maximum torque and increased power with lower internal resistance, ensuring efficient and cooler operation. This combo is designed to maximize your potential with unmatched performance and reliability.
About the Combo
Technology
The OTA programmer allows for real-time data recording, enabling you to monitor throttle, voltage, current, temperature, motor RPM, and more. This data can be viewed in real time and recorded using HW Link for easy data analysis. The system includes multiple protections such as low-voltage cutoff, ESC and motor thermal protection, fail-safe (throttle signal loss protection), and reverse polarity protection. Firmware upgrades are possible via the Hobbywing multifunction LCD Pro program box or the OTA programmer (both sold separately).
Motor
The Hobbywing EZRun 4278SD G2R Sensored Brushless Motor has been designed to provide maximum speed and power. Using an advanced sensored system, this motor can deliver more aggressive launches, higher speeds and better efficiencies. With the waterproof sensor connection, you can enjoy all the benefits of a sensored system no matter the terrain.
ESC
The ESC features three built-in 680uF capacitors, enhancing performance by 74% (870uF) compared to the MAX8 ESC. These large capacitors eliminate the need for external capacitors on your vehicle. It also includes a patented frameless fan design, which rapidly transfers internal heat to the integrated housing radiator. High airflow from the fan's side and a copper thermal conduction sink on the internal power plate ensure efficient cooling. This design maintains the ESC's reliability and optimal thermal condition.

I have this setup in an Arrma Typhon 6S and deliverers the goods. With the stock out of the box pinion and on 6S pack it will run 65mph on GPS. I’m very satisfied with the motor/ESC system. The onboard Bluetooth is fantastic.
Great system, have two of them. one in my arrma typhoon tlr and another in a losi eight xte. tons of power, super smooth, and runs cool.
Its ok, Im not sure it has more uummph, than the spetrum 2050. Ya its a lower kv but seems to have more guts... The sensored aspect works really well. I will say it hasnt blown up yet, but once you feel the power of the 4990, its just ok which should be expected. Nothing bad to say. Just didnt blown my hair back properly geared... Even my 8 year old said that didnt pull the same as... I would suggest this combo before the Max 6 combo. The max 8 seems better mated for each other.compared to the Max 6 combo, which the ESC is trash for capabilites that combo claims and the motors capabilites. This Max 8 motor feels lesser in a way thats more than being obviously smaller. For old school car guys, its like big block vs small block, but even though it spins to a higher rpm ( kv in this case ) , the grunt isnt the same. put it in a speed run car and it felt weaker than the original spectrum 2050... 6s to 6s. Maybe just me... Spectrums do blow up with no notice though so... Decisions....Good luck folks we signed up for this lol. I wish more poeple would share reviews on this site. 4 reviews on this combo? They must have sold hundereds of these since being released. Come on guys, lets help each other out. This crap is expensive!
Great item fits and operated great the car that I install them in runs great easy to install it’s a great combo you can choose which battery ends you want on the esc and install you own ends on the esc and motor I used crimps ends male /female ends
Excellent service and website.. fast shipping and they carry everything get that team Corally thank you
Reviewers generally rate this Hobbywing EZRun Max8 G2S ESC and 4278SD G2R 2250kV motor combo highly, with four of five reviews at 5/5. Owners report strong power, smooth running, and cool operation in Arrma and Losi platforms, and praise the onboard Bluetooth and sensored operation. One verified owner rated it 3/5, finding it adequate but less punchy than a 2050kV Spektrum setup, and felt it did not match the performance expectations of a higher-powered combo. Installation was described as easy, with owners able to fit their own battery connectors. Shipping and seller service were also praised in one review. Overall sentiment is positive, with the main reservation being relative power versus other combos.
- + Strong power and smooth running
- + Runs cool
- + Onboard Bluetooth
- + Easy installation
- − Less punch than some competing combos
- − Performance below expectations for one owner
- − Pricing or value not discussed
