The hobby wing quicrun mini 16 is the perfect motor upgrade for the UTB18.

The first one of these I bought was for a UTB 18. Huge improvement over stock motor! FOC and slow crawl are amazing. Plenty of punch when I want it. Today I installed a Mini 16 Fusion on a 1/12 Element Bushido with the same results. I haven't had much luck finding upgrades for my 1/12 Element crawlers, so I'm glad to find out the Mini 16 Fusion works well in them. 1/12 Element Ecto will be getting one soon!

I put this in mu UTB 18 capra from Axial and it is exactly what I was wanting ,very good slow speed control and still fast enough for a crawler.

I have this in a Mojave Grom. Running on 3s. Great, usable power that doesn’t upset the chassis. A bit more speed than stock. Way more torque than stock. No heat issues on road or in the dirt. Excellent low speed control. Super clean install since its a 2in1. Can still run the stock fan mount. Don’t hesitate to run this in non-crawler vehicles!

What reviewers say

All eight reviews are five-star and report positive experiences with the Mini16 Fusion 370 2-in-1 brushless ESC and motor system, mainly in 1/18 and 1/12 scale crawlers such as the UTB18, Element Bushido and Mojave Grom. Reviewers praise slow-speed control, FOC and crawl performance, torque over stock motors, and a clean 2-in-1 installation. Several note it works in bashing and lighter 2WD buggies as well. One reviewer running it in an Arrma Typhon Grom on 3S with stock gearing reported heat and fitted a better fan. Reviewers mention needing an HW adapter plate and smaller pinions for some installations. Review count is small and all reviews come from the same variant, so the evidence base is limited.

  • + Excellent slow-speed control and crawling performance
  • + Strong torque over stock motors
  • + Clean 2-in-1 installation saves weight
  • + Versatile across crawlers and bashing
  • − Runs hot in some setups, e.g. Typhon Grom on 3S
  • − Requires adapter plate and smaller pinions for some chassis
