I have had great luck with these motors. Perfect upgrade for vintage re-release Tamiya models. Don't go pushing crazy voltages through these motor and respect that they are old tech brushed motors with premium parts at under $20 bucks. Beating it with a heavy rc at 3s will get you exactly what you deserve.

I've been using this motor for my Super Astute 2wd buggy and am really happy with its performance. It goes almost as fast as my tamiya Super Stock BZ motor at an incredibly lower price point. Nice feature with these is it uses ball bearings unlike a stock silver can. If you're looking for an inexpensive upgrade for a tamiya kit or are looking to rekindle a vintage kit, this motor will fit the bill well.

I bought two of these to use with a Tamiya DT02 Blitzer and a Tamiya Manta Ray. My private off road track is mostly short grass which makes normal motors run very hot. This motor has an internal cooling fan and after about 10 minutes of track use, it is still cool enough to touch.Any other motor that I have would be too hot to touch after that. Plus, this motor has just the right amount of power for my track.Add the great price and you have a winner.

Excellent, extremely smooth with very nice features. Shaft is long which works well for me, but something to keep in mind.

What reviewers say

All four reviews are five-star ratings from verified owners of the 21-turn Retro Sport 540 brushed motor, and none report significant problems. Reviewers describe it as a low-cost upgrade for vintage Tamiya kits, with one comparing its speed to a Tamiya Super Stock BZ motor. Reported strengths include ball bearings, an internal cooling fan that keeps the motor cool after about ten minutes of use on grass, and smooth operation. One reviewer notes the shaft is long, which may matter for fitting. A reviewer also advises against high voltages and heavy vehicles on 3S, because the motor is older brushed technology. Sample size is small.

  • + Low price for the performance
  • + Ball bearings
  • + Internal cooling fan keeps motor cool
  • + Smooth operation
  • − Long shaft may need consideration when fitting
  • − Not suited to high voltage or heavy vehicles on 3S
