If you own a Maxx, you need this. Period. It allows you to tighten the servo saver to a reasonable level, and makes the truck handle and turn way better. I highly recommend this and a Reefs 500 Raw servo. Makes it a completely different truck.

Love it! Feels way better on the Maxx. I also upgraded to the 2085X. Feels so MUCH better and faster.

This is the best upgrade you can do for the Maxx, you need this. The stock steering setup is weak and sloppy, my Maxx would wander around different directions after landing jumps, I could never keep it straight, the handling was unpredictable. After installing this it got rid of 90% of the slop, the steering feels sharp and precise and I can hold the steering angle in turns on pavement and do sweet powerslides now, never could before! Make sure to loctite everything and spray down the servo saver with silicone lube, several people have complained about it locking up due to dirt. I gave it a test bash this afternoon, landed dozens of hard jumps and it held up just fine.

After the first day of running (just a couple of packs and not bashing) I found the servo saver seized up due to fine dust making its way into the servo saver and locking it up. I found this was the cause of my servo popping out of my Maxx Slash as well as one of the Traxxas aluminum C-blocks bending after a sideways landing off a jump at our short course track. Had the servo saver done its job there wouldn't have been this collateral damage to other parts of the steering/suspension, but there was no give where there was supposed to be which resulted in damaged parts. Thanks, Hot Racing.

The stock servo saver on the Maxx wears out pretty quick. Just do yourself a favor and get this, even if you're not upgrading your servo. It makes a world of difference.

What reviewers say

Reviewers largely praise the handling improvement on the Traxxas Maxx, with several reporting reduced steering slop, sharper precision, and better control after landings and in turns. Some note the stock servo saver wears quickly and that the upgrade made a clear difference. Other reviewers report failures, including a servo saver seizing from fine dust after light use, one reporting corrosion that damaged a servo, and one breaking within minutes on pavement. Multiple reviewers advise locking hardware with thread locker and lubricating the servo saver to prevent seizing from dirt. Reviews are mixed on durability, with high ratings from some owners and low ratings from others.

  • + Reduces steering slop
  • + Sharper, more precise handling
  • + Improves handling after jumps
  • + Better than stock servo saver
  • − Servo saver can seize from dust
  • − Reported corrosion damage
  • − Some units broke quickly
  • − Hardware may loosen without thread locker
