After I added a small amount of oil to these shocks and they totally stopped working, would not compress or rebound (even with stiffest springs). There is no good way to bleed air out and the clearance is too small to function like larger scale shocks.
Love this new oil filled long travel shock over the friction version on my gladiator!
I tried some Injora big bore shocks that were great, but leaked oil all over my brand new build. These Hot Racing shocks have been at high altitude and no leaks or issues. The performance is great and I am glad I found these.
Three verified owners reviewed the Hot Racing Axial SCX24 Aluminum Threaded Long Travel Oil Shocks (4). Reviewers are split: one reported the shocks stopped working after a small amount of oil was added, citing trapped air that was hard to bleed and small clearance, while two rated them 5/5, praising performance on a Gladiator and reporting no leaks, including at high altitude. One reviewer compared them favourably with a different oil shock that leaked. The sample is very small and the reviews do not establish whether the bleeding issue is common.
- + Good performance on a Gladiator
- + No leaks reported
- + Reliable at high altitude
- − Stopped working after adding oil in one report
- − Difficult to bleed air
- − Small clearance limits function
