About this part

The Hot Racing Axial SCX24 Brass Differential Cover with Stainless Axle Skid Plate is a heavy brass and stainless steel option that adds 13 grams of  total weight to the axle in a low and centralized location to lower the center of gravity, increase stability, making the SCX24 a more capable crawler. The stamped stainless Steel skid plate helps to reduce hang ups on obstacles, improving the ability to slide over terrain, while brass diff cover is thicker than the stock diff cover for increased weight and strength.

Features:
  • CNC machined solid brass billet
  • Stamp stainless Steel skid plate Designed to reduce obstacle hang ups and improve its ability to slide over terrain
  • Adds low hung weight to lower and centralize the vehicle's center of gravity, increase its stability, and make it an overall more capable crawler
  • Thicker than stock diff cover for additional toughness and weight
  • Diff cover fits either the front or rear
Specifications:
Width: 14.2mm
Height: 22.9mm

The KrackenVerified owneron Hot Racing Axial SCX24 Brass Differential Cover w/Stainless Axle Skid Plate 13g)

Bought two to upgrade both axles, they fit and look great. HR adds 4grams by increasing thickness on the bottom half of the diff cover. Doesn't affect ground clearance but makes using the skid plate a necessity to prevent hang ups. According to my well calibrated eyeball the additional 4 grams sits below the axle which helps get the CG even lower. I've only used them for a few days but seems to do well to keep the wheels planted on the ground. Don't have experience with the smaller 9g version to compare if it's worth the additional $10. The skid plates do pair nicely with the HR center skid plate! My only gripe is I had torque flex and more gear noise after first installation. Torque flex was caused by overtightening the diff covers, too much friction on the worm gear. I've reduced both by adding a little diff grease (15k) and ensuring the screws are not over tightened when installing.

its just a heavier diff cover i would pair this one with the 9g in the rear for a performance based rig. for those who want to spend the extra money you will be pleased and watch out for torque twist. little grease and overall maintenance on the rig will help a lot. (broke mans tip- 2 quarters is roughly 9g glue where ya like) =)

Expensive but I love the weight, just wish it was maybe 20% cheaper.

great fit and quality, would recommend if looking for good unsprung non-rotational weight to lover your center of gravity

What reviewers say

Four verified owners rated the 13g variant 4 to 5 out of 5. Reviewers agree that it fits the SCX24 well, feels well made, and adds weight low in the chassis, which helps lower the center of gravity and keep the wheels planted. The added thickness reduces ground clearance, so a skid plate is needed to avoid hang-ups; the reviewers note it pairs well with the matching center skid plate. The main recurring problem is torque twist or flex, with one owner also reporting more gear noise after installation, and a reviewer suggests grease and maintenance to help. Price was described as high by one reviewer. One reviewer compares it with the 9g version but has not tried it, so no direct comparison is available.

  • + Fits well
  • + Good quality build
  • + Adds weight to lower center of gravity
  • + Pairs well with HR center skid plate
  • − Torque twist or flex after install
  • − More gear noise reported
  • − Expensive
  • − Needs skid plate to avoid hang-ups
