It looks fantastic, let's get that out of the way. This an indoor toy to me. I ain't going outside with anything smaller then a 1/10. As a crawler, it's to grabby and the CG is bad. It wants to tip over on the slightest inclines. The clearance is excellent but my direct rc rock van is a more satisfying crawler. What is surprising to me is that it is a super fun fast indoor car. Almost like a mini fireteam. Most small cars suck on wood floors but this treats it like off road terrain, drifting thru my living room. It has enough speed to bump off drops and hit the back wheels first. It's way more satisfying as a fast u4 even with locked diffs.
These trucks a pretty high on fun & cool features and pretty durable to boot. I have 2 of them at this point My Loren Healy truck is getting more of a scale make over with new lightbars, shocks, interior detail etc... The VGJR truck is an runner that I have added NEXX shocks to so I can see if they offer any advantages, immediately off the batt the shocks having only rebound control is an issue, I want them to rebound fast as possible, they should be made to adjust compression, slow the wheel down so it can get back to the ground as fast as possible. Regardless of shock wanderings the truck is actually quite fun for such a little thing. It obviously needs weight down low to keep it from bouncing around like a ping pong ball so I added the heaviest weights i could find for it HPI# HPI161151 11 grams each, so 44 grams of gravity assist. You can get more by adding other components but this is the heaviest bang for the buck without having to changes wheels, tires etc... Just take it for what it is, a very small trail truck, it will never perform like a 1/10th or 1/8th, ever, the laws of physics make it so. I love the truck, you will too.
Absolutely a Blast.... Drives well on many surfaces from Sand to Rock Face...
Very poor customer service. Impossible to reach anyone to help answer your questions.
This was my first HPI product owning. This little guy rips! Its fast enough to run as a trail truck, but flip the remote switch boom rock crawler, smooth control no cogging i was impressed. everything you need to get going in the box as well, they dont mention the esc being rebranded hobbywing thats 3s capable though! On 2s driving on carpet it is almost able to do standing backflips! Like with any crawler though it desperately needs some weight added down low and some extra width would help as well its twitchy at speed too. the spare tire in the back is functional as well. its so nice ill buy another since the gf enjoys driving it and its dual functionality she wants one for herself. it does come with the thumb lever for single handed operation as well, you just have to install it. 5 stars will buy again! hope this helps anyone looking at purchasing one, i bought mine after a couple youtube vids, knowing the feedback given could be influenced.
Reviewers generally find the HPI Venture18 U4 Flux Bronco fun and fast for its size, with several praising its speed, brushless power, and smooth control, and noting it works on varied surfaces including indoor floors. Opinions on crawling differ: one reviewer found it grabby with poor centre of gravity and preferred a larger crawler, while others describe it as a capable rock crawler when weight is added low. A recurring criticism is that the truck tends to be twitchy at speed and tips easily, with reviewers suggesting added weight low and wider stance. Shock rebound control was a complaint for one owner. One reviewer reported very poor customer service with difficulty reaching support. Looks were widely praised.
