About this part

Tool Overview:

Hudy 3mm Drive Pin Replacement Tool. The HUDY 3mm Drive Pin Replacement Tool, is an essential tool for racers at every skill level. HUDY takes the lead in providing a solution that not only saves you money but also valuable time, whether you're at the track or at home. One of the primary reasons for cars experiencing handling issues is the improper functioning of the suspension due to driveline binding. In cars of various scales, it's crucial to inspect and replace drive pins regularly before they wear out. A worn-out pin can lead to inconsistent handling and subpar overall performance. Historically, drivers have either frequently replaced their pins or incurred the expense of replacing the entire drive shaft to address this issue.

I've had both the Mugen tool and the Hudy tool. The Mugen tool has long since been sold. I liked the mugen tool but had sheared 2 of the "push" pins. Yes they sell replacements. Makes you wonder why they sell replacements. It seems the pin they use to push the dogbone pin out is as soft or softer than the pin in the actual dogbone. Have been using the Hudy tool for a year without 1 issue. I've used it on every brand dogbone and it always works. Yes the mugen tool was more "convenient" as you didn't need a hammer but the best tool for the job is the Hudy.

the Hudy tool was good............until the Mugen pin tool came on the scene.... the mugan tool is so easy to use....and no need for a hammer....no worn pin parts chipping off...Sorry Mr Hudy...you have been caught napping ... a bit like how you still show using side cutters to hold shock shafts....in your books...it's 2013 now..

what an awesome little tool!!! I just used it for the first time and it pushed pins out of my mugen mbx6t no problem. My advice is don't use a hammer like it says in the instructions use a vise to clamp the tool in. The vice offers a lot better control when setting and removing the pins.

Works great, no issues at all. Great product. I used a vise and squeezed pins in and out with control. I am thinking the vise is a better idea than a hammer although I'm sure that works fine also. A vise allows precision adjustments to center pin and doesn' t mark tool if using some rubber or like material in the vise jaws. Mugen 3mm pins are great also. Use Mugen 13.8mm pins for Front and Rear CVD's and 12.8mm for center CVD shafts. They are perfect lenghth for TLR 8ight's and I'm sure most others.

What reviewers say

Reviewers overwhelmingly praise the Hudy 3mm Drive Pin Replacement Tool as fast and easy for changing dogbone drive pins, with several saying it is far quicker than improvised methods such as motorcycle chain breakers. Many note it works across brands, and some recommend using a vise rather than a hammer for better control. Two reviews are critical: one rates it below the Mugen tool for convenience since no hammer is needed, and another reports difficulty finding a replacement 2.5mm ejector pin after breaking one. Ratings are mostly five stars, though the sample is small and several reviews are brief.

  • + Fast and easy pin replacement
  • + Works across multiple brands
  • + Saves money compared with alternatives
  • + Controlled operation when used in a vise
  • − Requires a hammer per instructions
  • − Replacement 2.5mm ejector pin hard to find
  • − Less convenient than Mugen tool per one reviewer
  • − Higher price than some alternatives
