JConcepts 1/10 & 1/8 Aluminum Tire Balancer w/Case (Black)
About this part
The center point of any balancer are the bearings, the free spinning action rests inside the JConcepts hub design. The interchangeable thumb nuts for 1/10th and 1/8th wheel versatility are located on the main axle which can be moved from its home base position to its critical balancing position with ease. The upright is built in aluminum material, anodized, etched with instructions and chamfered for that extra lustrous look.
The base of the item is built to protect, position and maintain a small footprint at all times. The base has 4 stand-off legs to hold a steady structure while a thumb screw secures the upright in either the up or down position. The JConcepts balancer is pre-assembled and backed by JConcepts customer support and racing team lineage.
NOTE: The JConcepts Racing Team uses a modeling clay for balancing material which is readily available through hobby based retailers.

For the money this is not worth it; it came with bad bearings out of the box(VERY COMMON ISSUE). The supplied bearings stop on friction thus balancing tires were impossible, wheels are not allowed to freely spin putting the heavier side down. Nowhere can you figure out what size bearings you'd need to replace. If you order these, buy 2 ceramic bearings size 5x8x2.5mm to replace the poorly made bearings on this balancer. You're in it over $90 with tax after that! The older prop balancer works better. On larger 1/8 scale wheels where the center hole is a tad bigger; this balancer does not center the wheel good enough so you'd be off balance no matter what. You'd need to take your hex size; 17mm nut, file away the threads in the center, slip the wheel on, push in the 17mm hex and tighten the outside piece to that, it'll center the wheels perfectly. The additional work it takes to make this the perfect balancer will cost you extra $$. For this much money, they should've provided ceramic bearings or higher quality ones plus Adaptable wheel hexs so you can get the perfect centering of the wheel. The idea is perfect; the manufacturing execution failed here. I didn't send it back because I like the design and don't want to deal with the hassle, I fixed the flaws and made it perfect, just cost me an extra $20 bucks or so, plus 3 hours of my time trying to find the bearings at 3 local hobby shops. Buy with caution. Or I'd recommend the Integy wheel balancer which is cheaper; works way better out of the box.
I should have read the reviews ? but never the less this product is worth buying it is solid just buy the ceramic bearings, because the one's it come with are bad ?
Awesome tire balancer , I always wanted to have this item and yes it's expensive but it's also really well made compared to others Balancers out there. Fit and finish is really top notch and works very well with Buggy tires 1/10 1/8 buggy and Truggy tires. I removed one star because of the price..
Reviewers agree the aluminum build and fit and finish are well regarded, and one notes it suits 1/10 and 1/8 buggy and truggy tires. Opinions diverge on value: the price is described as high, and one reviewer rates it 1 out of 5 for the money. The main recurring problem is the factory-supplied bearings, which two reviewers say cause the wheel to stop on friction so tires cannot be balanced; both recommend replacing them with ceramic bearings (5x8x2.5mm). One reviewer also reports the balancer does not center larger 1/8 scale wheels with a bigger center hole well enough, and that hex size must be checked before ordering.
- + Solid aluminum build
- + Fit and finish
- + Works well with buggy and truggy tires
- + Better built than many alternatives
- − Factory bearings cause friction and poor balance
- − Expensive for the value
- − Poor centering on larger 1/8 scale wheels
- − Replacement bearing size not documented
