About this part

JConcepts Pin Downs Carpet 2.2" Truck Tires feature a pin spiked tread, which is directional for added performance and stability. The directional nature of the pins were positioned to allow broken-in type pins to grip the surface in one direction, while the pins are more upright when oriented in the opposite direction. The bottoms of the pins have heavy radiuses which allow the pins to wear more consistently and not tear or rip off the carcass prematurely. The tires are designed to work best with JConcepts 2.2” truck wheels (JCO3354W or JCO3354Y)

The tire carcass itself has been refined to reduce weight while maintaining strong sidewall support. The pink compound marked with 2 pink dots is a medium soft material with good wear characteristics. The rear tires include gray, open cell inserts making them a complete set ready to mount, straight out of the package. The Pin Downs work best on Carpet and Astroturf tracks where typically a small pin tire is working.

Features:

  • JConcepts fit, finish and design
  • Multi-position, directional sharp pins
  • Hefty pin to carcass radius for increased response
  • Carefully shaped profiled carcass for rolling speed
  • Includes gray, open cell inserts

Great grip on the black and grey carpet tracks I've raced at so far. Short life on my T6.2 / 13.5T - only have 4 track days on them and they are just about shot.

These are probably great on carpet but I run mostly on a turf track where I would rate them as "good". Plenty of grip when they are fresh but the turf seems to beat them up pretty quickly. Forward drive remains OK but the pins get "angled" and side bite suffers and drops off quickly. The compound is great - nice & sticky and the included foams are good. These and the Swaggers up front do make a good pair. This tire with a more open tread and longer spikes (like the Schumacher mini spike) might be a better choice for turf - have not tried them yet.
