About the MR-04 Mini-Z
Advanced MR-04 Chassis
The MR-04 chassis represents a major upgrade from the previous MR-03 model, incorporating advanced engineering to boost performance. One key enhancement is the lower center of gravity, which greatly improves both cornering stability and straight-line handling. This refined chassis design includes updated front knuckles with integrated kingpins, reducing scrub by 1.5-millimeters on each side for sharper and more linear control. The change to three-millimeter inner diameter ball bearings further reduces rotational resistance, enhancing the smoothness of the car's movements. These improvements make the MR-04 chassis ideal for racers seeking a competitive edge as well as beginners looking for easier handling and better stability.
Dynamic Performance & Control
The MR-04 chassis is engineered for precise handling and control, thanks to its sophisticated suspension systems. The front suspension dynamically adjusts the camber angle as the upper arm moves, ensuring optimal tire contact during cornering. A revised caster angle further enhances steering response, making it easier to navigate tight turns. At the rear, a coil spring damper cushions shocks from the road surface, maintaining driving stability even on uneven terrain. The addition of an optional gyro unit (KYOMZW446 - sold separately) allows for even smoother control, with adjustable sensitivity to suit different driving preferences.
Premium Body & Compatibility
The Mazda 787B body is a showstopper, meticulously crafted to match display model standards. Its high-quality painted finish and expertly applied decals authentically replicate the iconic Le Mans-winning car from 1991, making it both a collector's piece and a functional racing machine. The MR-04 chassis supports compatibility with all bodies in the Mini-Z Racer series, offering extensive customization options for users who want to switch up their car's look or performance. The inclusion of a parts set allows users to adjust the front and rear tread width as needed when changing bodies, ensuring proper fit and handling with each configuration. This versatility makes the MR-04 ReadySet both visually impressive and highly adaptable.

This is another show stopper in my garage. I may have only been 14 when this one ran on Le Mans, this one just looks cool sitting on my desk with the stagger style wheels I couldn't not purchase this one regardless of how many readysets I already have. This looks fast sitting still with the batteries out of it. Glad I picked this one up.
Excellent car, Drives great. Wish the factory bearings were a bit better but it is an RTR. For it being so small its easy to work on.
The first one I ordered was the new Corvette. Sadly it had a bad servo or something because it was full lock left no matter what I did. So I shipped it back. Finally after processing you credited my account and I picked a new one because the Vette was out of stock. So I picked the Mazda, and when it arrived the flex plate was broken into 3 pieces. I already purchased upgraded ones anyway. But still, I wanted to be racing but I'm just receiving broken, poorly designed cars. As For Kyosho, The get an F for poor motor circuitry placement. The resistors completely interfere with the top suspension piece so that it can't flex that direction at all. I had to modify it to make it work. Regards. Jon Bearden
Reviewers largely praise the car's driving performance and small size, and one calls it easy to work on. The reviews are mixed on build quality. One reviewer found the factory bearings could be better, and another reported a broken flex plate on arrival along with a suspension clearance problem caused by motor circuitry placement that required modification. One reviewer focused mainly on the appearance of the body. Reviews for this variant are limited to three, so the picture is incomplete.
- + Good driving performance
- + Small and easy to work on
- + Attractive body and wheel styling
- − Factory bearings could be better
- − Flex plate arrived broken
- − Motor circuitry interferes with suspension movement
