I got this car on Cyber Monday and I finally got to drive it on 12/24/25 (winter weather delay). Before running it I did rebuild the 3 diffs. I found out that they only have 2 spider gears instead of 4 (Reddit), that is not a problem but 4 is stronger and they drop right in, I was also planning on putting diff fluid instead of grease. Amain had the parts I wanted; Part#: KYOIF102 you will need 2 of these and Part#: KYO97001B only 1 of these. So I rebuilt the diffs when the parts came. About $21, not bad at all Anyhow I got the kit for $337, a real bargin IMO. The included electronics are quite good, the Brainz 8 ESC is a re-branded Hobbywing and the motor is (90% sure) a re-branded KK series Surpass Hobby motor, both are brands I favor and use in many models. The radio is really good too, a lot of adjust-ability and it's not a "throwaway" that so many RTR's sometimes come with. I plan to race this car, I am a novice at racing, so buying a top of the line machine seemed silly. This is perfect for having a good time at the track. $21 in diff work and I will be sourcing swaybars and the car is pretty much good to go for a novice. *Update 6/5/2026. This is one of my favorite cars to drive, especially on a track. I did add sway bars which improved handling a lot. I also swapped out the radio and steering servo for my Dumborc DDF-350 and a 9iMod 55kg digital servo. The latency of the radio and the speed/power of the servo are much better than stock. The stock stuff is adequate though. I replaced the rear hub carriers with aluminium ones for strength. I am going to get the red springs at some point. **Fun side note, I have a KB10 Mad Wagon VE, The Inferno Neo 4 center diff and drive shaft Part#: KYOIF143B, drop in to replace the slipper clutch and front drive shaft. I relly like my Mad Wagon and this conversion is in progress now. I really don't care much for the slipper clutch**
This kit is awesome for the price point. The 4.0 Neo VE has high torque and is a quick buggy. I am running a 6500 120c battery for bashing around the yard. One complaint would be the screws are mostly #2-#1 phillips head and Kit did not include a turnbuckle wrench. The steering servo has plenty of torque and speed for me. This is my first Kyosho Kit I have purchased and I am very happy with it. I do plan to race this kit. No reason this kit cant compete on the track. It does lack some adjustment capabilities. Parts I plan to purchase soon are: Front and Rear sway bars and different springs Parts/Tools I Purchased already: Diff Fluid Shock oil New rims and tires for racing Turnbuckle wrench 25t aluminum clamping servo horn. If you are looking to buy an 1/8th scale buggy for the first time, this kit is a great option. I highly recommend this kit.
