This is an excellent kit for the price. It is a Dirt Master with extra parts and the different body. The only change that I needed to make was to put a 2 mm spacer under the battery hold down posts. This will allow you to use a standard shorty pack mounted forward. The kit does not accommodate 25 mm thick batteries. It works well however with newer LCG battery packs. I liked the body mounts for the Bug like body as this kit may be used for a late model oval conversion
This was a smooth build. You'll want to have a set of calipers on hand (or at least a metric ruler) to make it easier to tell the plastic spacers apart from each other because there are a lot of them and the manual doesn't make it obvious. The new body is great. It's easy to trim, and the paint masks and stickers all fit perfectly. The finished car is relatively lightweight and handles well. I'm very satisfied.
Just finished building the Dune Master tonight and the build was enjoyable and went smoothly. Probably the easiest RC body I have cut out. Rear spoiler stickers are a little tricky. Haven’t had a chance to get it out and give it a full rip yet though. Went brushed with a HW 1060 and Superstock RZ. Bench testing and the tires balloon so, this combo will be plenty of power for its intended use.
Great Kit. Didn't want to dock it a star but my only grip is way too many different sized plastic spacers. Minimal difference in width that you can't distinguish by the naked eye. Otherwise went together great. Suspension is a little soft with the recommended oil. I went with 37.5. I'm going to up it at some point. Went with a Hobbywing quicrun 10BL120 combo with the 3150kv motor. Fun on 2s. Absolutely rips on 3s. Stock spur gear and I believe a 23t pinion
This buggy is basically the same as a Dirtmaster-just a different body and wheels/tires.The build is pretty easy-just sort out all the different size spacers and hardware before you start it. I used a Dynamite 15t brushed motor and a Hobbywing 1060 ESC with a 3000 Mah Nimh battery. If you want to build it in one day, allow 5 to 6 hours.I took several days and the result is quite nice. I used Losi shock oil and it seems to work okay.Soon I want to run it on my Secret Off Road Test Track!!! The only complaint I have with the kit is the use of Allen hex fasteners instead of standard Phillips head screws-they tend to strip out rather easily. So be careful-otherwise, it's a cool kit!!
All five reviewers are verified owners who rate the kit five stars and describe the build as smooth or enjoyable. Reviewers note that it is essentially a Dirt Master with a different body and wheels and tires. The new body is praised as easy to trim and fit well with masks and stickers, though rear spoiler stickers were tricky for one reviewer. The most consistent complaint is the large number of similar-looking plastic spacers, which reviewers say is hard to tell apart without calipers or a metric ruler. One reviewer reported that the battery compartment does not accommodate 25 mm thick packs without a 2 mm spacer. Another noted that the Allen hex fasteners can strip easily. Reviewers used a range of brushed and brushless electronics, and one found the suspension soft on the recommended oil.
