Kyosho Zeal 5mm Vibration Absorption Gyro/Receiver/ESC Mounting Gel (Green)
About this part
This is a Kyosho Zeal 5mm Vibration Absorption Gyro/Receiver Mounting Gel. Designed to absorb vibrations this mounting gel isolates electronics such as gyros and keeps them from getting false readings when in use. This mounting gel measures 5mm thick and is an excellent choice for mounting servo's, ESC's, receivers, or for any other application that requires two sided tape.
- Works well for cushioning 1/8-scale buggy/truggy ESCs.

This shock absorbing gel pad will save your electronics but as many have noted, the adhesive on the gel pad is not very good. My fix is to first remove the adhesive by sticking the gel pad to any clean smooth surface (e.g. a pit board), then peel the gel pad off; the adhesive will be left behind. I do this to each side of the gel pad. Then I apply a layer of the thinnest 3M VHB two-sided foam tape (less than 1mm thick) to each side of the gel pad. The VHB sticks extremely well to the gel pad and also to your chassis or your ESC. You can use carpet tape or ordinary (thicker) servo tape instead of VHB, but VHB is the best and has many other uses.
Used this to mount a MSH Brain-2 FBL to a TRON 7.0 Advance. This gel needs to be somewhat compressed to provide 100% performance. Good for "milton mod" mounting of FBL units.
In theory this tape should be a winner but unfortunately it didn't last more than 2 x 6 minute qualifiers before the adhesive delaminated from the gel. I did all the proper installation as well. Cleaned both surfaces with alcohol before laying the tape down.
Reviewers agree the gel pad absorbs vibration and protects electronics, but the factory adhesive is widely described as weak. One reviewer reports the adhesive delaminated from the gel after two six-minute qualifiers despite cleaning with alcohol; another says it works well for mounting a flybarless unit when somewhat compressed. A workaround is described: removing the factory adhesive and applying thin VHB foam tape, though this is a user modification rather than a product feature. Reviews are few and mixed on durability.
- + Absorbs vibration to protect electronics
- + Works for mounting flybarless units when compressed
- + Usable as a base for thin VHB tape mounting
- − Factory adhesive is weak
- − Adhesive delaminated after short use in one review
- − Requires modification or extra tape for secure mounting
