Simple and effective many ways to install left up to the purchasers choice of mounting. Light weight, quality product.

I got two one for my losi 22s sprint and the other for my traxxas bs-2 jato. They were so easy to fit and start racing with them.

Well we had big hopes for these to work because the ones that actually have just the box and light all in one work great but our bigger vehicles 10th scale do not work when you have the light to the outside of the body so I am in the process now I'll find out if I can return them one time they'll read the next five laps nothing you get it to the track it'll pick your car up one time unless you're less than 5 in from the left timer it will not read the car.

These work great in larger vehicles. I have these in my Tekno and Keaton vehicles and haven't had any issues with them. Use the smaller transponders for the minis and micros. Great system.

Very glad to see these on A-Main. This system is incredible. We've been using them for a couple of years in some brutal heat, never had an issue. We keep the receiver brick covered by a high tech cardboard box with a window cut into it. The beam is very generous and fairly easy to get reliable beeps. With proper height on the tripod you won't have to worry about blocking each other's transponder beams when overtaking. We found it best to place the box a bit after the turn into the big straightaway. Right beyond where spinouts tend to happen. We've taped these beams vertically to batteries, horizontally on top of steering servos, glued em into bodies, all works fine. If you like racing but haven't used a timing system before, I'd say this is worth your money. Being able to test tweaks with reliable laptimes made racing drastically more fun for me.

What reviewers say

Four of five reviewers report the LapMonitor Transponder (JR/Futaba connector variant) works well, citing easy installation, light weight, and reliable lap detection on sprint, 1/10-scale and larger vehicles. Reviewers describe several mounting options, including taping, attaching to servos or batteries, and gluing into bodies, and one notes placement after a turn to avoid spinouts. One reviewer, rating it 2/5, reports the transponder was read only once or not at all on 10th-scale vehicles when the beam was mounted outside the body, and was unable to get reliable reads near the timing loop. The reviews do not state whether this issue is specific to mounting or to certain vehicles. Overall sentiment is positive, but the sample is small.

  • + Easy to install
  • + Light weight
  • + Reliable lap detection on larger vehicles
  • + Multiple mounting options
  • − Missed reads when mounted outside the body on 10th scale
  • − Inconsistent detection near the timing loop
