My losi eight 2.0s starter box, was running the wrong way when i got it, so therefore it could start the car, by chance. Maybe thats got something to do with people breaking their belts?

Not sure what is causing the issues for some of the users but mine have been going strong. I purchased the 8ight 2.0 RTR about 2.5 years ago and I'm still on the original belt. The truggy was purchased about 2 years ago and it's on the original belt as well. I converted to LiPo in the boxes almost right away (ran stick packs in the buggy box for a couple months but the truggy box was converted day one). I'm just now ordering belts to keep on hand as spares because due to the age of the originals (still working great).

What reviewers say

Reviewers mostly report that this starter drive belt wears or breaks quickly, with several owners recommending keeping spares on hand; some recount going through multiple belts within a few months. One owner reports nearly two years of use on the original belt, and that owner ran LiPo power, which may matter. One reviewer suggests a starter box running in the wrong direction could contribute to breakage, and another notes a belt bearing a 3M marking and asks whether it is genuine Losi. Several reviews mention Prestone belt dressing as having extended belt life, though this is a single reported experience. Reviews are mixed in outcome and cause, and the sample is small.

  • + Long life for one owner on original belt
  • + Works well for some users
  • − Wears or breaks quickly for many owners
  • − Multiple replacements needed within months
  • − Possible authenticity concern about 3M marking
