About this part

This is the Maclan DRK 160 RS Edition No Prep Drag Racing Brushless Electronic Speed Controller (ESC). Not impressed. 5 runs on a very low power setting and the ESC took a dump. After trying to reach out to macland there was no response for over a week. I finally got them to respond and now they have my ESC and it's going to cost me another $100 to fix it.

I ve tried sending the product back and I had no word, not a single email, nothing ... worst product ever, worst customer suport, no respect ... NOT ever again to this old Viper RC/new Maclan!

What reviewers say

Reviews are sharply divided. Several reviewers praise the unit as easy to install, with good speed control and many adjustments, and one rates it highly after a period of use. Two-star-or-lower reviews report the ESC failing quickly, including reports of MOSFET failures and units dying after few runs, with repair costs around $100 to $130. Reviewers also describe slow or absent customer support, including no response for over a week and no reply to a return request. One reviewer gave three stars without judging the unit, as the rest of their order had not arrived. One low-rated review refers to a product bought before the brand changed from Viper RC to Maclan, so its experience may not reflect the current product.

  • + Easy to install
  • + Smooth speed control with many adjustments
  • + Strong praise from several verified owners
  • − ESC failures, including MOSFET damage, reported soon after use
  • − Repair costs around $100 to $130
  • − Slow or no response from customer support
