MYLAPS RC4 "3-Wire" Direct Powered Personal Transponder
About this part
How Does it Work?
The system picks up the signal sent out by the transponder mounted on your car. This signal is analyzed and lap times are measured. The system knows exactly which lap you are on and what your position is. If the track has the system hooked up to an internet connection, the data is passed on and published to your personal MYLAPS account. When you drive on a track with a MYLAPS RC4 timing system installed, your account will also show you information about the connected voltage and ambient car temperature.
Your Personal Data
Your training and event results are uploaded by the track's system or race officials. You can check, analyze and share your performance data on your personal account online. Simply create a personal account and register your transponder.
Easy to Set Up & Maintain
It is easy to get your transponder in and out of your car using the holder that comes with your RC4 package. The holder should be installed at a maximum height of 15 cm (6 inches) above the ground. Transponders need to survive the heat of battle. RC4 transponders are shock and mud-proof and can be used safely for both indoor and outdoor racing. They can even be used for model boat racing. Because they connect to your car’s power output, you don’t have to worry about recharging them. If you use your transponder a lot, it can get dirty over time. Use a soft brush and some lukewarm water to clean it.

Fantastic little transponder. Small, light, great quality & reliable. Works great. There's good reason it is the industry standard.
To the one star reviewers: No offence, but there is a time when things need to move forward and then it is not at any time possible to have everything to be compatible with older systems or to be back-compatible also. So I have to say the one star is not fair at all as this should be reviews for the product it self and not for what it can do on older systems or not. My review is 5 star because: Can take up to 16V, direct to 3S batteries or higher, no problem! And not at least the specs tell you: "RC4 Timing System only" so everything is explained before purchase ;)
Good transponder, when I can use it. I agree, things should move forward and improve. But the update to the firmware that makes the clones obsolete isn't moving forward. Mylaps chose to make it so that the clones didn't work. There were no hardware changes to make it so it was unable to pick up different transponders, just programming to make it so you'd have to buy a new transponder to work on the new systems. It would have been as easy (and probably easier) to just add the new pt coding to the timing systems and have all current transponders using the still supported frequencies work fine. But Mylaps wants to upgrade that system and make it so you HAVE to buy their product (until the new ones are cloned). Making it so the early adopters are not able to use lap timing on an older system/ have to buy an older and probably not as good transponder, or forcing everyone to upgrade for no other reason than to cut out other manufacturers products is not a step forward. Why not let racers have the choice to use the newer or the older styles, with the unique pros and cons they have. The hobby is already expensive enough without having to add another transponder to the mix so I don't show up to a race somewhere and not be able to be counted. My two cents.
Is not backwards compatible with the RC3 system where the RC4 hybrids work. There was a few people at my local track that had to be hand counted because they bought new transponders and they didnt work with the system. MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE RC4 "HYBRID" TRANSPONDER and not this one. Im going to try and return all of mine and tell everyone else to return theirs..
I does everything it says it should. If you buy befor looking into the compatibility of it with your decoder, it is not the falt of the transponder.
Reviewers generally report that the MYLAPS RC4 3-Wire direct-powered transponder is small, light, easy to install and reliable, with many verified owners saying it works as advertised in buggies, trucks and boats. Shipping and seller service are frequently praised. The main disagreement concerns compatibility: several reviewers say it is not backward compatible with older AMB/RC3 decoder firmware or clones, and one reports missed laps on track, while others note the product clearly states it is for RC4 timing systems only. Some criticise the price and the absence of mounting screws. Reviewers recommend checking track compatibility before purchase, and some suggest the 2-wire RC4 Hybrid for broader support.
