They are really good but they are very different than normal so tuning is harder I’m still trying to figure out what oil to run and I have had them for a while better than stock and my old injora.
while they look pretty good, the "no leak" oil doesnt dampen hardly at all, and the damping disc is too small for the shock shaft, so even with 50wt fluid in there it hardly does anything. You can put the Losi OEM shaft and in the shock body and use proper oil which made the rears actually feel pretty nice, but then I found out both front shocks had faults in the manufacturing that made them be crunch and airate and be basicallyy unusable. one shock was cut all the way through when the threads were being machined and the other included a casting pore. this resulted in a crunch operation that you could hear. they look great but pretty bummed with these
When I got the shocks 2 out of the 4 were in good working condition. The other two wouldn’t travel freely, I had to take them apart and assemble them myself, so I just did all 4 so they were even. Now they are extremely nice! The worst part about these shocks are the screws. Good luck finding a driver to fit them. I tried 3 different screwdrivers sets, either they were too big or too small. I couldn’t find the correct size anywhere, and I ruined a few drivers just to get these in because you have to do it at an angle to even get it to move. Once I can replace these screws they are going in the trash. Other than that the shocks are nice once you do some bit of work to them.
Reviewers agree the shocks look good and perform better than stock or older aftermarket shocks, though tuning is harder because they behave differently from typical shocks and oil choice is still being explored. Opinions diverge on performance: one owner found the included oil barely damped and the damping disc too small for the shaft, while another found them very nice after reassembly. Two reviewers report out-of-the-box problems, including shocks that would not travel freely and manufacturing faults such as a cut thread and a casting pore causing crunching and air ingress. Several note the cap screws are difficult to drive, with standard drivers not fitting well.
- + Looks good
- + Better than stock shocks
- + Performs well once set up
- + Better than older aftermarket shocks
- − Included oil dampens poorly
- − Manufacturing faults in some units
- − Shocks may not travel freely out of the box
- − Screws need a hard-to-find driver size
