The S720 is a good choice for transitioning from a basic trainer to intermediate pilot. I have bought 5 of these planes for myself, friends and kids getting into rc flying. With a remote serial receiver, it can bind with a Spectrum (or other) transmitter making buddy-box flying possible and teaching easier. The only drawbacks I've encountered is that the servos tend to burn out. These are relatively easy to replace (with better servos). The plane handles crashes with ease and little damage - a few broken props but with 2 per plane initially I've never had to order extra props. Flys good in light to moderate wind, has good power and flight times of 8 to 10 minutes on the battery provided.
This is my 2nd OMP HOBBY S720. Breaks down for easy portability. Flies like a large scale plane and the electronics will take 3s lipo like a champ. Extremely fast on 3s but a little much on the air frame. Hence, buying a second one. I'll fly this one on 2s and my reinforced one on 3s. Great all around plane
Cool engineering, nice flyer but terrible tranny joy sticks. Way too much slop. It's impossible to even come close for fine control. It needs a much better radio or bind and fly Spektrum option. I gave mine away.
Reviewers generally describe the OMPHobby S720 (718mm) as a good all-round trainer-to-intermediate airplane that handles crashes well and is easy to fly in light to moderate wind. Two reviewers praise its power and portability, one noting it breaks down for transport and flies well on 2S and 3S batteries. Flight times of roughly 8 to 10 minutes on the included battery are mentioned. The servos are reported to burn out, though they are easy to replace. The included transmitter is criticised as having excessive stick slop, making fine control difficult, with one reviewer suggesting a better radio or a Spektrum bind-and-fly option. Reviews are few in number, and one reviewer had a different experience with the transmitter.
