Big 170SL fan and wanted to give these a try. Wow never impressed and they can take the punishment on 1/8 nitro buggy racing.

Solid steering servo. Quick, powerful & sleek looking. Included aluminum servo horn isn't compatible with my Kyosho Fazer MK2, but I dont think any other aftermarket servo horn actually is lol. A+ customer service from Amain as always. Edit: There appears to be a decent amount of play in the servo gears when I gently wiggle the servo horn and the wheels, which is translating to play/slop in the steering causing the recentering of the wheels at neutral to be inconsistent. I’ve done quite a few modifications to remove most of the steering play/slop in my Kyosho Fazer MK2, so it’s a little disappointing that a servo priced at $140 has this much play. It’s still a very strong and quick servo, but the amount of play in the gears is kind of a buzz kill. I’ve reached out to Amain customer support to see if this is normal or perhaps my gears are stripped. I’ll update my review once I hear back. Edit #2: I've sent the protek 630 servo in for return(initially for a replacement under warranty, but decided to ask for a refund instead based on the recent review echoing the issue of inconsistent centering). It could very well be a bad apple that I received, but I've decided to purchase the Savox SB-3292SG. I still think the protek 630 is a great servo but for now I'm going to try out the Savox and see how it fairs. Amain customer support remains top notch. Edit #3: I have received the savox sb3292 and it completely fixed the centering issue with no play in the gears. I’ve let Amain customer support know about the issue regarding the centering/play in gears with the protek 630. Hopefully it’s just a bad batch and not a fundamental issue with the design/production.

I bought this thru my local hobby shop earlier this year for my SCT410 2.0. I was struggling with always having to recenter the steering trim all the time. I've been just getting back into R/C after a 15yr hiatus so I figured maybe just its just my build and working out the gremlins. I stumbled across Terence Im's review and it is spot on. Had slop in the steering but always thought it was in the assembly. So I had a Savox SB-3292SG I bought for another build and swapped with the ProTek RC 630. The slop was instantly gone so it wasn't my build but the ProTek servo just like Terence Im explained in his review. Servo works great, strong & fast but the centering problem is hard to ignore. Maybe just a batch that were bad but I think I'm gonna stick with Savox from now on.....

What reviewers say

Four reviews, two verified, rate this metal-gear digital servo highly on average. Reviewers praise its speed, strength and durability in 1/8 buggy and truck use. Two reviewers report steering play or slop in the gears, causing inconsistent neutral centering, and one reports having to repeatedly reset steering trim until swapping in another servo. One reviewer notes the included aluminum horn does not fit a Kyosho Fazer MK2, and one notes customer service was good. Reviews cover the standard variant; the reviewers' reports are based on a limited sample.

  • + Fast and strong performance
  • + Durable metal gears for racing
  • + Sleek appearance
  • + Good customer service
  • − Gear play causing inconsistent centering
  • − Included aluminum horn not compatible with some models
  • − Requires frequent trim adjustment in one report
